Hey Wendy, I just tried to call you on your cell. Hope you're doing better. Keep eating the broth and popcycles. Friday isn't too far. It's worth it to know you're healing properly.

Thanks Wenjea. I have a totally desk job. It is almost so I don't have to get up- which is bad too. I stayed until I felt icky and went home so I feel comfortable in doing that again. The retail construction waits for no one. At least I have a boss that doesn't mind. Well, he does but I don't! I need to heal. I job share so Amber will be in on Wed to help out. Glad I didn't miss out on meeting you. We will have to go to the next one.

Yep, Merrillee it's my turn on Thursday. Ready to get on with it.

I did go to support group tonight. it was good. Met alot of people, there just over 20 people there. They are very encouraging, friendly, open group.

The leader was the nutritionist from my ed class today, Laura. She's lively, friendly and knowledgeable. They had a clothing exchange (this was their 1st one) and I came home with several pairs of pants to shrink into. From my one time experience I think this group can be very helpful.

Wendy...I met a gal who live in UP who really wants to walk with us. She was realy nice and we seem to be able to relate in many ways.

Hi everyone! Today I feel better! Don't know how much pain meds I will need today, not that I was taking a lot anyway. I really want to walk outside today because it is beautiful out. I actually slept on my side last night without pain, Yea!!!

I went on NWWLS web site and looked at their post op instructions and they get SF pudding and applesauce along with pureed Soup. Would it be cheating if I had some of those? I havn't had a BM in so long I'm thinking I need to get something in my colon, feeling a little toxic! Maybe if I add anything it should be a Protein Shake. Any suggestions?

My insicions look good but are starting to itch like no other! i guess that means they are healing. I worry about not getting enough Water in during the day. My throat is finally feeling better. I think that now that it is day 6 I can finally say it's going to be worth it. BREAKTHROUGH!

Hello everyone -

I am waiting in the hospital for my surgery - turns out my cardiologist did not send in my approval yet to this doctor... they were supposed to fax it in last friday so now I have to wait until their office opens at 9:00 am to get my go ahead!

A little frustrating, but not the end of the worlde - think I am gonna watch a movie on my lap top for now to pass the time.

Wenjea...

So great to turn that corner. Give me a call, i can squeeze in a little walk if you want to get out of the house.

LJUHT115...

That must be really frustrating! Good for you for finding a distraction. For what I've been able to figure I may be in for quite a wait on Thursday...a movie is a great idea.

Wenjea, SO glad to hear you're feeling better! I could probably walk with you all this afternoon. Let me know for sure. I will try to get my friend, Rachel, to come too!

Pinenut.....can't believe you went to work at all! I was a freakin' mess and totally depended on my family for at leat a week. They were awesome.

Ljuht.....Hopefully you've heard from the cardio by now....saying prayers.

Evilah, Yes, I climbed the big hill behind our house and did not die.....YIPPEE! I've never been able to do that before without stopping constantly! Didn't have to stop even once! A miracle!

Did I tell you all that my total cholesterol is down to 150?!!!! Can't hardly believe it! I've been one of those that hangs seriously around 400 all the time....or more!!!! ANd my triglycerides were only 200.....and they've been as high as 900! This surgery is a gift from God, I tell you!

Hi. I'm from the Olympic Peninsula. I thought I'd check in and let you guys know how it's going. I'm not getting anywhere with approval. We've written a letter to my husband's work appealing the insurance denial. We understand they can approve on a case-by-case basis. The thing is, we sent the letter 4-5 weeks ago. Now playing the waiting game. How the heck do we know they even received it? If it doesn't get approved, I am going to MX (Ortiz).

Ugh, I'm so frustrated at this point, and I'm losing my nerve.

Advice anyone?

Wenjea: I bet it wouldn't hurt at this point to add the applesauce/ The pudding is a nice change, I am also haveing the thick & creamy Yoplait light yogurt. Dr Michaelson says anything that could be pureed to the point you could suck it through aa McDonals straw (the big ones) you can have. You don't have to drink it through a straw though. ;) I mixed my pureed chicken Soup and the pureed stuffing together and YUM. SInce they only do lap bands, I would guess that they are ok with their dietary requirements for lap banders. I have not had any trouble swallowing the foods they recommend.

I don't have nay excuse for the typos....I have them regardless of surgery! HaHa.

I got to work today at 9 and spent lunch lying on the floor. It felt good to not sit up for a bit. I have only had Aleve today too. Day 6?

Hi Sue11 - YES - I would definitely bet on a wait - The dr has 7 surgeries today and I am the last at 6-7 pm. I found out you can try and call the day before to see where you are in the line up (although you still have to be here around 5:30 am. Do you have a lap top - if so bring it - they have wireles. Hubby brought me a ton of movies to watch as well...

The cardio info DID show up this morning, thank god I didn't call a bunch of people and throw a stink a bout it since it wasn' delaying anything!!!!!

All is well right now. I am also going to ask dr srikanth if pureeing food that fits through a straw like Soup qualifies as a clear liquid!!!

3-4 more hours and counting.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
