wow wenjea! that's quite a journey so far! How are the Clear Liquids going? How are you feeling?

I found out friday at my endoscipy that I have a hiatal hernia, which may explain my chest pains. I don't know what doctor oh/hirai will say about it yet.

Evilah - they will just fix it when they are in there. I had one to but they didn't see it during the scope but found it when they went in for the surgery. I think some of my pain could be from that. The port pain is the worst today and the gas is really stating to move around. I didn't realize how much stomach muscle it took to fart!

Wenjea & Pinenut - thanks for updating us!! I promise each day you will feel better. Just keep taking it easy and don't rush yourself. I agree that after my surgery I couldn't have imagined having to fly home on an airplane from Mexico. I was so glad I didn't go that route!! This is your time to heal so let your body do just that :)

Sue11 - I hope your doing ok on your liquid diet!! I'm still hanging in there but it's so hard when you read about people getting mashed potato's 2 weeks after surgery!! 6 more days for me and I get to move on to pureed food!! Yah!!! And I have DR Fox out of Tacoma.

I'm still on 3 Protein Drinks a day and clear liquids only. Getting sick of it!!! But I've come this far so I'll keep going!!

Hi Wendy! So glad to see your posts tonite! I know the pain is tough, but you're doing the right things.....especially the heating pad. That was the one thing that really got me through.

I'm having a little bit of a tough time with REAL food.... I keep getting things a little stuck. I barfed TWICE yesterday when I was out to lunch with a friend. A few days before I was at the exact same restaurant eating the exact same thing and did fine....maybe I didn't chew it as well. I don't know. My poor friend was so sweet....but it's got to be a little disconcerting to see your friend run to the bathroom to upchuck - twice. This is definitely the experimental stage of the band project. What I can and can't eat..... I'm sure I'll figure it out. Soups seem to be the safest. Someone on the board here somewhere said the chili at Wendy's is good....and I've had it twice with no problems.

OK, gonna get to bed.

Wendy...

Glad to see you up and posting.

Merrillee...

What kind of foods are you having trouble with? I can't tell you how mush I crave Wendy's chili!!!

nbjen...

What hospital does dr Fox work out of? Is he in a group/clinic? We're going to try to make the support group on monday at St Joes.

Nasty headache today, what I wouldn't give for a couple excedrine!!! It's the only thing that helps my monthly headache. A baked potatoe probably wouldn' hurt either!!! Wish i had my pain meds already...I'd give that a go. Oh well, at least I should get through all that by surgery day on Thursday. Would sure hate to have cramps on top of it all.

hi Mer - you promise that this will get better? My port side is killing me!!! The only time it doesn't hurt is when I lay in bed with the heating pad on but then the gas fills like it isn't moving so I get up. I'm having a hard time getting comfortable tonight. Tomorrow will be better I hope.

Hi Wendy - your pain will get better. I forgot to add that I had a bag of frozen veggies and kept that on my port site and used the heating pad on my back. That really helped me! I think the first 4 days were the worst since I needed help just to sit up. I had myself propped up on the couch with tons of pillows.

Sue - Dr Fox is out of Tacoma and does surgery at Auburn Hospital. He has a support group once a month in Tacoma but it's too far for me to go on a week night. Can anyone go to Dr Oh's group?

Well gotta go... have to get my daughter out of the bathtub and I still have to wash her hair - so fun w/a 3 year old!!

LJUHT115,

Hi, I'm getting banded with Dr. Srikanth on June 12. It was supposed to be June 5th, but I had trouble getting all the pre-op stuff done in time so I asked to push it back a week. I'm a self pay, but my general physician is ordering all the tests for me so that theyll be covered by insurance - that's part of the hold up. I can't wait.

Wenjea and Pine nut, congratulations!!! I'm so glad that everything seems to have gone pretty well for you guys. It really helps to hear everyones stories.

Question - how do you do one of these ticker things?

HI Wendy,

Yes, the first few days are difficult and painful. Do you have your nice liquid narcotic? They gave me roxicet. Of course, it knocks you out. But it's good. Really - it does subside with time. I promise.

Sue, can't you take tylenol? I know I did.....even pre-op. I feel for you. There's got to be a way to get you some relief. I get awful sinus headaches that I used to be able to treat with OTC stuff....but now you can't get it because BIG BROTHER is afraid all us little housewives are out there making METH with it.....Anyway, I finally talked to a pharmacist that recommended Mucinex-D. It actually treats my sinus.

SUE, (again) What I ate was a chicken fajita wrap....BUT how I ate it was that I opened it up and just ate the chicken out of it.....I thought I ate it carefully and chewed well. I also had a few tiny bites of the wrap....maybe I just didn't wait long enough between bites? My friend and I were really engrossed in conversation, so I probably wasn't paying good enough attention. I think I'm sticking with simpler things for a while longer.

Silly me,

Merrillee

Hi Dawneb -

go to tickerfactory.com... Pick your options and fill it out (it is very easy)..

then cut and paste the first link option you see below your choice (there are 3) and cut and past it right in your signature section where you put your name etc so that is shows up each time you post. Good luck...

Yeah - my surgery is tuesday so I am cleaning the house and getting it ready, being passive aggressive with hubby cause he is taking yet another nap, but I guess after I get surgery, he wil need all the energy he has to help take care of me cause it kills him to miss work.

I am on my 8th day of my pre-op and am about 10 lbs down so far. I am only really hungry at night I found, so I have to keep my mind on the goal. I truly thought the liquid diet would be a lot worse than it really is but I have a while to go after my surgery as well so my band can heal.

Nice to meet you. I will be keeping everyone posted as to how tues goes. Reading all the posts, I have learned a lot (especially the ispure Protein drinks post surgery since protein is what helps you heal).

Good luck with your labs ( mine found a hiatal hernia they are not certain they want to fix, but if they are going to be in there, why not is my question!

I did do all my labs at st fracis and so far everything has been submitted to insurance at this point.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
