Information On How To Pay

Recommended Posts

Ive decided to have surgery and I'm going to use Trish as a point person. Dr. Ponce or Kelly will do my surgery. How do you send payment to these guys and how secure is it? How do you really know who you are speaking to.?

If you go directly with Dr Kelly, you bring a cashiers check. I didn't even need to put down a deposit..... (i dont know if this is common with everbody or not, but its just what i experienced)....But I hear if you go through the coordinators you pay them directly because they make a profit from the booking.

If you Book through Trish, You have to sent a $1500 down payment 2 weeks prior. I use Western Union online and everything went well. The remainder you bring with a cashiers check when you arrive.

Exactly my experience. I will bring a cashier's check and deliver it by hand when I get there. ALso, by going directly through Dr. Kelly, you don't pay the coordinator fee.

I even had to remind Dr Kelly's assistant Anaid that I have a check and she said don't worry about it know, let's get you all set up in the hospital first. I was at the hospital for hours and after all the pre-op tests before I gave them the check. That made me feel good that it wasn't the first thing they asked for when I got picked up.

That's what Dr. Kelly told me, don't worry about it and just bring the check with you. I am glad to not have to send the deposit as I was a little worried about the fee my bank charges for wire transfers. So good deal that the payment is a little easier. Also, I am glad to see they didn't ask you for the check the minute you got there, that's nice.

I posted Dr Kelly's contact info in a separate post, but here it is. I paid $6000 because I had a revision from lap-band, but $5500 appears to be the going rate for Dr Kelly based on what others have posted.

Here is Dr Kelly's contact info.

Tel: 619-793-4869 or 619-395-5347

Email: jrkelly45@hotmail.com

Good Luck!

So I have a question what does the 5500 cover? Is that just the surgery, or is it the surgery, tests etc? And do they do all the test the same day as the surgery since it's out of country? Also wouldn't it be more expensive to make travel arrangements, and costs of hotels etc to go another country, rather than just doing the surgery here in the states?

I just came back from MX. Dr. Kelly was my surgeon and Trish was my coordinatoe. Both were excellent.

The price includes everything except airfare and meals , if you bring a friend along. It covers all the test, hotel, transporatation from and to the airport, except for tip, if you want.

Just for the record, my understanding. You do not pay this hefty fee to the coordinator, she does not jack the price up. I found with my experience that it would be the same price with or without a coordinator. It was $5500.00. Also, I liked the fact that Trish is in Tijauna, not a voice over the telephone. She treats you well and you feel like your on a mini vacation. They both check on you everyday, every step of the way. I must say, I felt very very comfortable with Dr. Kelly as well. With or without your in excellent hands. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
