  2. I am scheduled for Feb 5th with Dr Aceves, and am traveling alone. Would love to have someone to go with.
  3. Sorry your insurance company let you down. But it sounds like you have researched all the facts and made an intelligent decision. I wish you the best! Please keep us posted on your journey.
  4. The doctor did say that when you lose weight that fast that you lose muscle tissue, so that when you gain it back, you gain back all fat...being 14 and with unsupportive parents she probably wasn't taught much about exercise or nutrition. I never understood how a person can gain weight back after a bypass.
  5. I get more concern about going to Mexico than I do about the actual surgery. Just got a text today to not go to Mexico because they are hanging people off of bridges, and drug wars are going on etc etc. Has anyone who has recently gone to Mexico had any feeling of danger? I haven't seen anything about that mentioned on this forum.
  6. thanks again Dave. Pls keep me posted on your journey. You must be getting excited.
  7. Thanks so much for the awesome speach. I feel better, and I can totally relate to everything you said. I wish you success also. When is your surgery? Can I ask if you are going outside of the states? I am scheduled for Feb 4th, Dr Aceves. I think I will quit watching Dr Oz for awhile. Every time I see those weight loss stories, I think to myself, "Why can't I do that?" They make it seem like anybody that really wants to lose can do it. Keep us posted on how your journey. Thanks again.
  8. This is the first I have heard about going home with a drainage tube. Is this normal? I am going to Mexico, and won't have easy access to the Dr once I get home.
  9. Great response. Thanks!
  10. Oh, the vacillation. It is making me crazy. I did the research, selected a surgeon, and have a date. But I watch Dr Oz on t.v. and see all these people come out who have lost the weight through diet and exercise, and I wonder...am I taking the easy way out? Will people look at me as a person who was too weak to do this on her own so she goes to mexico and pays for a surgically enforced diet? I have tried every diet, even hypnosis, to the point where I have no faith in diets. This is honestly my only hope, but this freaking vacillating is driving me crazy. Did anyone else have this problem? My surgery is scheduled for February.
  11. can you advise which dr rodriquez, andhow you are doing now?
  12. When I brought the WLS up at work, a co-worker said "why bother, your life is almost over." I am 61. Nice, huh? My kids are afraid for me to go to Mexico because of all the horror stories you hear. I have to self pay, so probably will go there, but haven't picked a surgeon yet. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable surgeon here in the states or in Mexico? pls reply to ladyrider@aol.com thanks
  13. how are you doing now? Can you tell me who did your surgery? are you losing weight yet, and how is the pain? I am thinking about the sleeve, but this kind of scares me. ladyrider@aol.com
