I Definitely Regret Surgery.... So Far!

Recommended Posts

i truly feel so bad for people who are jumping on this train! if only they knew what they could possibly be getting themselves into! i want to tell them to run & go sign up for a gym & just do the hard work because this right here is not the way!!!!!

i wouldnt wish this on anyone. i feel so sick. & i know my friends are tired of hearing me complain about it so i try & stay to myself but damn!!!! i dont know how much more i can take. they say ill get better but im getting worse!!!! & they said the stent has to stay for 4-6weeks. i thought i was already 2 weeks in! im not. im only 1week & 2days in! this is TORTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it has even crossed my mind to switch to bypass to just get past this part! i cant deal with this feeling! my goodness :(

i work in xray and see more complications from bypass than sleeve, having a bypass is not necessarily going to fix the problems from the sleeve

I am really new here, and just looking into getting the sleeve, and I haven't read this entire thread. What do they do for a leak? And I am sorry you are going through this :(

the surgeon would have to repair the leak through another surgery, most likely with more staples or glue

however, before the surgery make sure you ask your surgeon what precautions are taken to prevent leaks

my surgeon did a triple staple and applied a glue substance for added protection. i have had great success and its been almost 1 year. good luck to you

they place a stent (tube) in ur esophagus that leads down into ur stomach to cover up the leak while it heals itself.

its kinda pathetic when you want to cry your eyes out but think of wasting all that time to try & stay hydrated to waste it on tears. (sighs)

Wow, sounds like you have been through the ring a few times. I had some issues myself. I actually have moved since my surgery, I am at the 5 month mark, so need to find a new local doctor asap. However, I should add, I was losing weight faster then I was supposed to. The doctor insisted I needed more calories. I can tolerate the carnation instant Breakfast Protein Shakes, they go down well now. I was also upped to 40 mg of nexxium and 1 prilosec a day. This has helped immensely with the GERD. I really hope you get to feeling better. The blood is not a good thing, I think a call in or an ER visit may be needed. I had a bleed the day after mine, and was vomiting a lot of blood. My vitals were also crazy, so they didn't hesitate to bring me back in. I also have had a few issues with dehydration. Not anymore though, I have learned has taken time. Things are easier and I am understanding my body much more. I really hope things get better for you.

It sounds like the stent is just compounding your situation at the moment. Is there any way they (and you!) would considering NPO and getting tubed? I know it's not ideal, but with the way you are struggling not to vomit and to stay hydrated it seems like at this point it may be the lesser or two evils.

Sorry you're dealing with all of this :(

they said i dont need to be & wouldnt even considerit. idk wat being tubed is like. i think most likely, id say no. i was able to eat some dinner & keep it down. i also ate a large fast food cup full of ice. i wonder if the antibiotics is making me sick. antibiotics usually does make me sick but im on liquid form & the nausea isnt automatically after taking it. i have to take a teaspoon every 12hrs for 10 days. today has gotten better after evening hit. lets see how tonight goes!!

Reglan is used for a few things, including increasing milk production. I used it for that (didn't help me much).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
