File Sumbitted To Insurance Today

Recommended Posts

Fingers crossed everybody! My file is being submitted to Aetna today. I already have a surgery date of 1/24. I have my last few pre-op appointments and the two week pre-op shake diet to get through. I have been working really hard at this process so I will be relieved for the 24th to finally be here. The reality of the whole thing still hasn't hit me yet, but as time gets closer I'm sure it will.

Good luck, hope you hear back soon. My mom submitted with Aetna and heard back in less than 48 hours.

Yes!!! They got back to my surgeon's office this Wednesday with an approval, so it took a little over a week. I have read on here some people hear back from Aetna as quickly as 48 hours, so I guess it all depends how busy Aetna is.

Aetna must be a pretty good company. My wife and I submitted to Med Mutual Ohio. She was approved pretty quickly, I was turned down...get this... because the psychiatrist told them I did drugs in the 60's! Pot and acid, off and on for 1-2 years, over in 1969. I became a born-again Christian and eventually a preacher, living quite a drug free life.

The doc sent in an appeal and I was approved, surgery on Monday. They are wondering if the turndown was a delay tactic to wait until the new year for bigger co-pays, we had just about maxed 2011.

Just saw your new post. Good for you!!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
