January 2012 Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

OMG! I'm so close to the day. Will be at the hospital at 5:30am tomorrow. The anesthesiologist will check and determined if I can go under with this cold and cough. Hoping for a miracle!

good luck! I know you don't want the cold to postpone things, but...coughing may cause you pain after surgery, so may be for the best if doc says you need to wait

Good luck to all who are very newly sleeved and those awaiting upcoming surgeries over the next week! Each day gets better! Tomorrow will be 2 weeks exactly for me and I'm down 20 lbs. I'll be returning to work tomorrow, also.

Hi! How are you healing?

I'm happy everybody seems to be doing well. I think this board has saved my sanity and my families. I can't wait to join the January sleevers. I was supposed to be at the end of December so the delay had felt like forever. It feels crazy that I have only one more full day.

I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic. I've always been a slow loser and expect that may not change. I have to fight away the thoughts that this too will be a failed attempt. Just enjoying every part of the journey and staying positive and keeping things in perspective.

I'm so excited to get on with the rest of my life. I can't wait to get off the sidelines of my life and actually play again. I feel so blessed to have found what I pray is the answer to my prayers and hope to help and mentor others through the process. I've already learned so much about myself and am continuing to figure out why I do the things I do. Learning to eat to live, and divorce myself from food being a part of everything.

Those of you newly sleeved, sending healing thoughts. Those sleeve sisters getting sleeved with me this week special prayers for us all. I'm excited to have so many folks to share our journeys together. It's not going to be easy, but life as we know it pre sleeved isn't so hot either. Let's get healthy. Thanks for the support!

I am glad to know I am not alone with my consuming thoughts of the surgery. I am six days away! I will keep myself busy this week getting things ready and ensuring I have all the supplies needed for post-op. I will have very little help when I get home so I am trying to make sure I have it all together beforehand.

Prayers for those already sleeved and congratulations to those over the next few days. I hate to wish away the time, but oh how I hope these next six days fly by.

It sounds like everyone feels the same way while waiting. I sure did and like you got everything in order so I don't have alot to do when I return home, made a packing list and got stuff together little by little for 2 weeks. Now I am sleeved!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to tell all of you that are waiting to be sleeved, good luck!

I am one week out and have been having a few minor issues. Everything that goes in comes out, not vomit if you catch my drift. I called my doctor today and he said he wants me to start with the mushies (scrambled eggs and cootage cheese and such) on Saturday instead of waiting. He thinks it is from being on the liquids too long. I never thought I would be SO excited about eating eggs and cottage cheese. LOL! The pain is getting MUCH better and easier to handle. I haven't taken anything for it in about three days. I am having a HUGE issue with trying to get Protein in. I just can't stomach the drinks! YUCK!

Which Protein drinks have you tried? EAS AdvantEdge Carb control RTD, r my fav. Choc fudge tastes like yoohoo, strawberry-Strawberry Quick, Cafe caramel-ice coffee. Before surgery, I actually craved those shakes.

I am 3 days out and struggling to get enough Clear Liquids. Every teenie sip, takes several seconds to get from my esophagus to my sleeve. I can actually feel and hear it go through, cool and gross at the same time. Other than that I am just tired and weak, to be expected, when only on Clear Liquids. Sat. I get to have my Protein Shakes, kinda excited and nervous.

Good luck to everyone pre and post sleeve.

I'm three full days out from surgery and kind of starting to feel human again. Comparing how I feel today to how I felt yesterday is like night and day! If you're just coming out of your surgery, hang in there. You'll start coming around in no time.

I will try those shakes! Thanks! I am not a big strawberry drink person. But I will give the chocolate ones a try.

Well, tomorrow is the big day. I started this process on August 16th and I thought it would never come. Since my surgeon didn't require a liquid pre op diet, I did a modified one on my own. I did have a healthy dinner every night. No 'Last Meal' binge at all, other than a filet of fish last week. It was good and I don't regret it. LOL! I ate apple slices with it and drank my Protein shake.

My son is nervous for me and so that makes me nervous for him. He asked me if he was going to see me again. My eyes welled up. He's only 5. I'm taking him to my inlaws tonight and he's going to stay with them until Monday. That way it will give me a few days recovery without having to worry about taking care of his needs. I can focus on me. I told him I would call him before surgery and then call him right after I wake up and can hold a phone. :) But that his Ya-ya (godmother) will call him as soon as the Doctor comes out and tells them that it's over.

He agreed to this but then asked if we could sing his favorite song. Three Little Birds. I've been doing just fine with my nerves until this morning. Until this conversation.

at Walmart they are $4.74/4pk and Shoprite has them for $4.79/4pk and this past Sunday 1/22, paper, had a $1.00 off any EAS product. Before surgery, that is how I stocked up, I got a bunch of these coupons from a clipping service.

http://www.thecouponclippers.com even though they cost .12/cpn, you can save alot of money on them, if you like them.

Tif 2.0 - my heart goes out to you. My son is only three so I just told him I was going to the Dr. I did get out a journal I started when trying to get pregnant with him and I wrote to him telling him how much I love him and that I was doing this for the both of us. I went and had my will & trust updated too... Hope your surgery goes off without a hitch! big hugs!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
