How Much Protein In One Sitting?

Recommended Posts

I was speaking with one of my friends that gastric bypass and she said that someone in her support group said that one should only consume like 30 grams of Protein in one sitting because the body will not absorb it. I know I wouldn't be able to have that much in one sitting, post-op. But since I have to get 60-80 grams in a day, I thought that an Isopure (40 grams protein, zero carb) and a shake spread over a whole day would be okay. Does anyone know about this?

I vaguely remember something about that at a support group meeting. But, you'll be drinking so slowly after surgery, that you won't be capable of getting too much Protein in one sitting.

Good luck with your journey!! :)

Most of your food choices once you start eating will be around 20 grams. A chicken breast, a small hamburger patty, etc. It is hard getting in 80 grams at first. But after a while it gets easier. Three meals a day is about 70 and with a Protein snack like nuts, string cheese...80 is do-able.

I've always heard that the body can't absorb more than 25 grams of Protein at a time.

I honestly don't remember hearing about consuming too much Protein in one sitting. I eat chicken just about everyday and that gives me about 20 grams of protein. Also, my shake is 28 grams of protein per shake. I used to drink 3 of them a day but was recently told that I have to drop that to 1 shake a day :nonod: because I should be getting the majority of my protein from food.< /p>

I'm not getting enough Protein in my diet, so I have increased my protein by drinking 2 Protein Drinks (30gm) and it is really difficult. I also eat alot of chicken and cheeses. I am looking more into low fat cheeses though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
