If you hit a rough patch and feel you are not losing, do a search for 'stall' and you will see you are not alone. Everyone has them. It has taken me a year to lose 90 pounds or 60% of my excess weight. You are doing great.

Wow,

I am wishing I had lost as much weight as you have so far! I was sleeved Oct 25, 2011, just 3 weeks ago. It will be a month this coming Tuesday. I have only lost 6 pounds since surgery!! Now that is depressing!! I'm doing exactly what my doc tells me to do. I even exercise an hour a day. Half an hour on the exercise bike doing cardio! I'm on pureed foods and my Protein drinks. Getting in at least 60-80 grams of Protein a day. Although the food I eat is mostly meat....gotta always eat your protein first!! My calories are between aprox 450-600 a day.

My surgeon's PA think it is because I lost so much weight before surgery. I had lost 53 pounds before....

People talk about going into starvation mode.....well, that is pretty controversial. Some docs believe in it. Some don't. I know Weight Watchers doesn't. I don't know what to believe...

Anyway, for the OP, you're doing GREAT! So don't sweat it! :wink1:

In some cases upping your calories is necessary if your body thinks it is starving because it thinks it isn't getting enough, which can cause your body to hold onto the fat for self-preservation- just the bodies reaction to this situation. So, upping calories (the RIGHT kind of calories) can help the body come out of that mode where it thinks it is starving. I would just try to document the foods you are eating for a week, and share them with a registered dietitician that is familiar with the weight loss surgeries and see what he or she thinks. Don't get too discouraged, just keep your eye on the prize.

I'm need to ask this again .. Why do u all say to increase calories to lose weight? And how is that even possible 1-2 mos post op in a healthy way??

Dear Janet

You may consider yourself to be lucky, later on, for being what you call a "slow loser". At least you won't have as much loose skin hanging off your body, because you are losing at a safe rate and your skin has time to shink with the fat loss. I think I am going to try to actually slow my weight loss for that very same reason. (I am only 5 days out) I'm eager to lose, sure, but not eager to go back for a Tummy Tuck.

Anyway, you are losing at a phenomenal rate, really you are!

Best Wishes,

Her Moojesty

I was sleeved on September 12th and I have "only" lost 26 pounds. Yes 26 pounds is wonderful, but when you compare it to others it seems slow. You just have to be patient and remember your body will do what is right for it. I try to resist the urge to compare my weight loss to everyone elses, but it's easy to do when you are reading the boards, which is why I have stayed away for the last month.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
