I don't think everyone follows low carb eating although it does work best. You can't take everything you love out of your diet because you will feel like you are deprived....then you will overindulge and the cycle will continue. If you had a bad day, it's a bad day chalk it up to a bad day and tomorrow begin again. I have to admit that I try my best to stick to low carb BUT i do love my potatos.......

I had a bowl of Tomato Soup at Panera today.

My NUT said to avoid bread, rice, and Pasta (note: avoid, not eliminate), but a healthy diet does need some starch, and potatoes were listed with other starchy vegetables. Everything in moderation.

Breads, rice and Pasta expand in your stomach as it mechanically breaks them down. You don't want the capacity of your stomach reduced because of this. Now, if you already have your Protein for the day in, then go for it. I avoid them still as I am trying to get my carbs in through veggies and these three items tend to sit like a rock in my belly.

Oh my gosh, I had the broth the second out of surgery! Then the next week I bought two bowls and pureed them over the course of the next several days...not a biggy! Tracy w. Down 89lbs since Jan

I was so happy to read this that I made it for dinner last night. I haven't had surgery yet and I don't like canned Soups, so I have been on the hunt for ideas. It was delicious. My family really enjoyed it.

Here is the recipe from Allrecipes.com in case anyone wants to prepare it at home. Make sure to read the reviews as there are lots of ideas on how to reduce calories and fat. I, for example, used lactose free skim milk & cornstarch instead of cream.

I've read the nutritional values at the Olive Garden. My doctor doesn't focus on carbs at all unless somebody isn't losing. Yay, I don't think I could keep up!! I've never had that Soup at OG, but do eat the Minestone. We always order the breadsticks without being brushed w/butter. Two things here....much better for you and you ALWAYS get fresh, right out of the oven bread. Same thing at Red Lobster - no butter or cheese. Takes a little longer, but they are FRESH!!!! At Olive Garden, my husband, who gets just Pasta, will add chicken or shrimp, whatever I want. I'll eat the meat and a few bites of the pasta, very little. I do try and limit my carbs - I don't even think of it like that, I think 'bread, pasta, potatoes and white rice' I have not eliminated them, but nothing like before surgery, just a fraction!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
