I think I may have a hiatal hernia. I have a lot of burping in a weird pattern after I eat and discomfort in my upper tummy area. I read somewhere that Dr.Aceves will repair it for free duiring VSG surgery if he sees it? I'm going to bring it up at the pre op appt. but was wondering if anyone here has dealt with this??

He fixed mine for free, too. I think he automatically looks for it because he has to fix it before he can do the sleeve. I asked him about burping and he said when I was burping pre-op it was because of the hernia.

That's good to hear, that must be what this is then. I have a really weird burping thing going on and pressure/discomfort in that area. I started noticing it several months ago but didn't put 2 and 2 together until today.

I had the same and it was repaired, however I feel like I have a lump in the back of my throat. when the leak test was done, I was told fluids will be harderto go down because of the swelling. I think the swelling has subsided because I don't have any more soarness, however, from day 1 of my surgery, I feel this thing in the back of my throat. Did any one feel the same?

I don't know when you had your surgery, but i had mine on the 13th of Sept and had the same thing. My Uvula was so swolen from the tube put down my throat during surgery that it hung down and layed on my tongue for the first week. It has since subsided so I hope yours will too. I also had a hiatal hernia repair but don't think that had anything to do with it.

Thanks Trina. My surgery was on Sept 15th. That could be the case. I will be seeing my doctor tomorrow. Thats comforting to know it may noot be a bad situation after all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
