Lost too much weight - ha ha

Recommended Posts

At my heaviest I was wearing a 20/22 just prior to surgery in Oct 2010. For several years I have kept a few tubs of my nicest, most expensive and mostly classic styled clothes in smaller sizes so I could wear them again when I lost weight (many were actually still new). While cleaning out our garage last weekend and unpacking the last of the boxes from our move two years ago, I ran across those tubs. I was so excited to go through all these awesome garments until I realized that each and every item was too big for me. Because I don't see myself as a small person, I never would have imagined not fitting into my "small" clothes (10-14). So the moral of the story is.....if you have boxes of small clothes, pull them out early and try them on often. You'll be surprised at how your body changes so quickly!

That has got to be the best feeling. I did that a month ago and just in time to not have to go shopping for work clothes! Now, well things are starting to sag a little. Congratulations!

I have been having the same thing happen to me. Last Sunday for church I put on a pair of slacks that I had been "saving" until I knew they would fit me. I came out and my hubby said that someone else could get into them with me. I wore them anyway. So Sunday aft. I went into my second closet to find another pair of slacks to match that top. I had another pair that I had never worn but only to discover they were too big also. I am such a "clothes-a-holic" that I had three huge tubs plus 1/2 of a second closet full of clothes - 95% of which have never ever fit me. On the first day of each month now I go through those tubs and those clothes to try them on to see what fits me and what will be for later. When I started out this venture I kept telling my hubby that I thought I could lose 125 lbs and not have to buy any new clothes. Now I am thinking I will be able to lose even more and not have to buy any clothes. What in the world was I thinking when I bought all those "almost fit me" clothes?

I always chuckle at these posts but, seriously, it's not so funny! It's happened to me!!!! LOL Sometimes it has felt like overnight nothing fits... because it's huge! It's so weird! It reminds me of when my kids were growing up and it felt like they grew a couple of inches over night and all their clothes were outgrown! I am always amazed at the human body and it's ability to morph! Happy shopping everyone! :-)

I am doing the same thing right now. I have been having a pair of pink pants (I bought them to go see Aerosmith in cocert) and I love my pink pants, well I have been waiting to wear them. Just a little more working out and I will have them. They are a size 8. I see that many people have set a goal for weight and clothing size. A clothing size goal got me thinking, will I ever be smaller than an 8? I am thinking that I am going to get me an article of clothing in a size 6 and use that as a motivator but what if I get to a 6 and want a 4? Nevertheless, I LOVE my sleeve!

This is a cool NSV really, and I think a lot of it has to do with the way we seem to lose weight. The scales don't drop for some of us but we're losing inches galore so we think we're not really getting small enough to be able to fit in way smaller clothes yet. My scales seem stuck but my clothes still seem to get looser all the time. haha The other thing is losing faster than we've ever lost weight in the past. It's really difficult for the brain to catch up sometimes lol. So you're absolutely right, we need to get in the habit of trying on our closet clothes fairly regularly! Thanks for the reminder! Congrats!

:)

Newbee here. I haven't even gone for my first surgical consult yet. I know this is what I want and had to weigh in on the clothing thread.

I have clothes in storage from size 16 down to a size 5. I never throw away clothes I like that are still in good condition. I am going to have such fun going back and trying things on. These clothes are not really in any exaggerated style so they will all work.

Yes, I did buy a lot of clothes hoping to fit into them at some point. Most of those are in the 14-16 size range.

I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but as silly as it seems, I am looking forward to this.

I'm laughing right now, because on the pre surgery side, I am refusing to buy the next size up jeans. I have only one pair of jeans that fit me right now. I bought them in mens style because they will fit my husband after I have my weight loss and they are snug! I have clothes in my closet from when I was in High school ( I wore 501's and had 28 inch hips). I'm glad to know I not the only one with hopeful clothes.

CONGRATS!!!!! I did the same thing with the small clothes. Mine were all 14s and 12s.... I am an 8 now! It felt great but it is definitely a weird feeling to bypass all of the clothes.

Great work!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
