Have you tried the Iced Tea Isopure? My GNC mixes a case of the different flavors for me every two weeks. I guess I am weird because I actually kinda like the stuff. My favorite is the blue raspberry. Get it good and cold. The Protein Shots aren't too bad if they are good and cold too. Protein and fluids are your most important things right now. Don't worry too much about other stuff. And stay off the scale. Just weight once a week and don't stress it. You WILL lose weight.

sunny,

i had my surgery on the 16th and i have only lost 14 pounds. dont be discouraged, losing slower is healthier, as well as easier on the skin. for your Protein, have you ever tried high protein slim fast powder. i love the chocolate flavor. it tastes just like chocolate milk. your weight will come off! it has to, its just a matter of time. remember that even though it is going slow, that it is still going. soon it will be gone!!! relax, breathe easy, and enjoy every pound lost.

LViking I'm kind of scared of anything from Isopure. It really has a weird tast to me. It would be sooooooooo much easier if I could get it down. There's 40grams in one bottle PLUS its 20oz of liquid. Win/win I know.

when added to the milk it has 15 grams of Protein per serving. not as high as some of the other stuff, but much easier to swallow because it tastes good. lol

keep rocken it girlie!

I wasn't allowed fruit juice but the first month I mixed it with my Water. It help my drink more and settled my stomach. After I was able to eat more I stopped having juice. Good luck, Janine

According to the paperwork I got from my Dr. I can drink all types of juices. Not saying that I should just saying according to my directions I can. Prior to my surgery I drank the green Isopure it wasn't the best but I could drink it. Now after I'm trying to drink the red one & I can't get it down.

I appreciate all of the great advice. I'm going to do my best to use myfitnesspal to track what I have and cut back on the juice plus find a Protein that works for me. I KNOW its gonna get greater later. lol

Just left GNC and they tried to sell me the Unflavored Isopure powder. I had flashbacks of how NASTY the last Isopure was so I'm skeptical. Plus the tub is $60+ and they don't have anything smaller for me to try first.

Has anyone tried Ispoure unflavored powder?

Hey Sunny,

Pre-surgery, I was fine with the Protein powders, but afterwards, NO WAY! I couldn't stomach them. My NUT suggested Premier brand from costco. Way mellow on the tummy and 30 grams of Protein. I've been drinking them ever since and no problems at all. I see you have several Costcos all over your neighborhood, so I think it would be worth a try.

I know your directions say it's OK for juices, but just be sure they are not from concentrate and are all juice. They really can be super high in carbs.

Sunny,

I'm a slow loser too and I was sleeved almost 10 days before you! It's a drag when I don't see the scale moving but I try to concentrate on other NSV's. Like the fact that ONE of my chins is gone (still have 2). lol. and the fact that my clothes fit better than they have in years. I'm sure your body is like mine and it's taking its time to adjust. WE WILL LOSE this weight. And this might sound funny to you, but I found when I was able to start eating, and my calories and carbs went up, that is when the scale moves. Did you join myfitnesspal? If so, look for me on there. My user name is prinxessdeb. Good luck sweetie and keep up the great work!

I too had problems finding a Protein that I could stomach. I tried several , including "Isopuke" as you call it, lol, that were just horrible. I ended up with nectar as my everyday choice. It blends perfectly, not grainy. I mix it with light vanilla soy milk and add a few ice cubes to help Water it down and keep it really cold at the same time. Nectar also has some fruity flavors that I like- Twisted cherry is my favorite, I mix it with water, ice and just a little dash of great value brand sf cherry drink mix. It has 25 grams of Protein, 0 carbs and 0 sugar, 100 calories in a serving (1 scoop). I agree with the advice someone else gave- go to the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC to buy protein and they will let you exchange it for something else if you don't like what you get. I've done it a few times at my local Vitamin Shoppe and have never had a problem. It is really important that you start to get some of your protein down soon though. It will be a few weeks or longer before you can get enough food to eat to cover all your protein needs. Best of luck to you in finding something that works.

Look up the the "3 week stall". Many stall out for up to 4 weeks early on. I did. Then things get better. Who knows why.... the body does what it wants.

unflavored Protein powders are not unflavored. That being said, you can add them to other things that you like, pea Soup? crystal light? refried Beans? cottage cheese? This will help you get by until you can eat more regular foods. Good luck and you are doing great!

I was sleeved on the 16th and was 235 on the day of surgery. Tonight I finally got below 220 so that's 15 lbs, not far off from you. I bought Beneprotein from Walgreens (mail delivery) and I add one scoop to Soup or mashed potatoes (4oz). It gives me 6gm of Protein per scoop and there is no taste. However, I am still struggling to get in all of my Proteins. I have a lot of the Bariatric Advantage protein mix left but although it was real tasty before surgery, it just seems too thick for me now. I have one more week of pureed foods although I have really struggled with pureed as it is not very good. I've instead stuck with Carnation Instant Breakfast sugar free drinks for breakfast and cream soup (strained) mixed with the Protein Powder for lunch and/or dinner. I've also starting having more sugar free Jello and have found sugar free cool whip which is a nice treat. I've also bent the rules slightly and have had Panera macaroni and cheese. I split one bowl into four 4oz containers but can never finish all 4 ounces in one sitting. I chew it really well. Once I started eating this I actually think my heartburn got better also. Also, low fat refried Beans have been pretty good to me but again, only a few bites.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
