So tomorrow is my 3 month sleeveversary!! WOO HOO. I wanted to give an update on my progress to everyone and my RED VELVET's!!

As of tomorrow, I can officially have a "regular" diet and eat anything I wish. Within reason of course. Just meaning, nothing is off limits like before. I am soooo looking forward to having a salad and have bought all my stuff for it!! YAY!

I have done really well. I have not had any nausea or vomiting. Have not overeaten or felt ill from eating and am happy about that. I actually undereat my sleeve for fear of this!! I exercise daily and eat according to my plan. As of today, I have lost 95lbs!! WOOP. 40lbs since surgery 3 months ago and 55lbs pre-op!!

I have gone from 280 to 185 and a 43.2 bmi to a 28.1!!! I have not taken my bp or diabetic medication since one week after surgery and my blood sugars are in the 80-90's daily!! I am soooo happy about that. :)

I went from a 22/24 clothing size and now wear a loose 12. I really can't say enough good things about my sleeve. I love it!

I would love to hear how my Red Velvet's and other's are doing!!!

Kelly

Kelly,

Congratulations! I'm a few days behind the Red Velveters: I'll be at 3 months on the 17th.

Your numbers are amazing! Would you mind sharing what a typical day of food and exercise looks like for you?

Thanks,

Lynda

Thanks!!

I am supposed to eat 1/2 c three times a day right now, but I can not do that. When I do, I only consume around 300-400 calories and that does not work for me!

So, I eat my three meals and a snack or two depending on my calorie count for the day. I use my fitness pal to track my calories, but really that is all I pay attention to. I don't count carbs at all.

B- 2-2.5 oz Protein (chicken, fish, trukey burger) or scrambled/boiled egg

S-Light cheese stick

L- 2-2.5 oz Protein (tuna, chicken, trukey, meatballs, lunchmeat)

S- 1 oz. Jerky or 1oz nuts or pure Protein shake or bar

D- 2-2.5 oz protein (salmon, steak, tri-tip, chicken) a couple green Beans.

I rarely can eat all my meat at meal times. I can eat more steak and fish than chicken. I have not eaten any "bad carbs" rice, bread, Pasta, etc. I have had a couple bites of baked yams and some cooked veggies, but that is about it. I do not eat sweets at all.

I exercise pretty much everyday. I walk mostly at a very fast pace about 3-4 miles. I try to keep my calories between 750-850 daily.

Kelly

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
