Hi there, I'm waiting for an appointment to see Liz so I can get a surgery date. I will see if they can get in on the 15th or 16th. If I can get my way we can walk the halls together. I will keep you updated, OK.

Hugs,

Shell

I have not had nausea once and I have not throw up once. I do follow the rules to a "T" tho.

I was 11 weeks out yesterday and I feel great. My dr. is Fisher and he is WONDERFUL!!

They do not give you nerve meds, but you will be fine! I wasn't nervous at all until they took me into the surgery room and put me on the table. Then I got a little nervous, but then I woke up and it was over!! The worst for me was the gas pains. Those were horrible for about 3 days. Nothing helped.

I would do it all again tomorrow!!

Hugs,

Kelly ;)

I have not had nausea or vomiting either. :) That was the thing that I was most afraid of. I also didn't ever have any gas pains, luckily. I lost 6 pounds in the 4 days before surgery because I was so nervous I couldn't eat and just felt sick to my stomach from the nerves. When I got to the hospital they did give me a pill to help calm me down and it worked. :) I didn't feel loopy or anything, it just helped me relax and go with the flow. I am amazed at how incredibly easy the whole process was.

Honestly, it was so much less painful and so much easier than I expected that if they called me up tomorrow and said "The surgery didn't work, you have to come back in tomorrow and get it redone." (which I know that would never happen, but still) I totally would. I felt kind of silly afterwards for being so scared about it. But I definitely know how you feel!

The nurses and staff at Kaiser Richmond were fantastic and took great care of me. You are going to be in great hands and seriously, it is not as bad as you think it will be. The only things you really feel on Day 1 are the IV and the heparin shot and those are over in less than 5 minutes. After that it's smooth sailing. They keep you on pain meds so you are comfortable. :)

I can't believe the surgery is already over for me. It feels like it should have been so much worse. I know some people have complications, but I have yet to see someone on here that was sleeved at Kaiser Richmond and had any major complications. Everyone I've talked to has breezed right through. You'll be home by the next day feeling so happy that you are done.

I agree about them taking great care of you in the hospital! Also about nobody having complications after surgery. I think it has a lot to do with the skilled hands that operate on you.

Kaiser Richmond is ranked 3rd in the NATION for bariatric surgery!!! That is OUTSTANDING!!! Considering all of the bariatric surgery centers in the nation. :)

Kaiser Richmond also educates you to the hilt and if you don't comply, you don't get surgery!!

MLD, who was your surgeon?

I had Dr. Im and I absolutely love him! I asked him who the second surgeon assisting him would be and he said Dr. Fisher :) I know you said that's who your surgeon was. I am so happy with the entire bariatrics program there. They are phenomenal and I can see why they are number 3 in the nation. :) I cannot recommend them enough to people.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
