I started my 6 month diet program yesterday. I am so excited but sad that I have to wait that long . I know time flies....but I'm so tired of being overweight and feeling ugly....Its such a big part of my life 24/7, feeling fat, feeling ugly, cant find anything to wear, hope no one sees me.......I want to have a new life....new me....happier me. I am thankful that this opportunity has become available, I just hate the waiting. I hope I meet some friends on here.....I need someone to talk to. Sarah

Hi Sarah,

My name is Jaime and I am in the same boat you are in. I started my 6 months last month. My next appointment is July 27th. The waiting is the hard part! I have been reading lots of books and preparing myself (mentally right now) for the day of my surgery! Keep your head up...6 months will go by fast!

:D

OMG Sarah, your words and thoughts are on point to exactly how I feel and think! I too, just started my 6 month weight loss appointments. I would hate to have to go through all of the "steps" and in the end not be approved by my insurance (BSBS of MI). My BMI is where is needs to be, within the BCBS of MI guidelines, so I am thinking that I will not have an issue, but you never can tell. I hope to be sleeved by Dr. Castro in Dallas, TX, I have heard wonderful things about him! I hope that the time goes by quickly as I am not a very patient person by nature.

Sarah, I know 6 months seems forever when you're miserable with yourself. I just got done with my 6th appt., and believe me when I say, although some days are worse than others, the time really has gone by quickly. I'm just waiting to find out if I'm approved now, and I'm going crazy. They said I should know with in the next two weeks. I have found a lot of helpful information on this website, so hang in there and don't get frustrated. We are all here for you.

Exactly! I won't regurgitate what everyone else is saying, but you are not alone. There are so many people on this forum at the same stage you are at. The six months seems to go fast at times and slow at times, but take this time to learn what the surgery is all about, how you can make the most of it, and meet people on the forum and your real life that can support you through this journey! Good luck!

Honestly the six months seemed like a major pain at the time but looking back I am glad I had them to get my thoughts in order. My surgeon also required a two week liquid diet before surgery. This alone was the hardest thing I had to do before surgery. I am glad that he required it. It made the transition easier after surgery to liquids, mushies, and now solid foods. I kept telling myself that if I couldn't get through the two weeks there was no way this was right for me. I had my surgery almost a year ago now and I don't regret it. I feel so much better. It was a hard decision and I recommend you really do some soul searching. food will become a different thing to you after the surgery. Gone are the days I could eat so much I was unable to move... I haven't had pizza in more than a year and honestly the only thing I miss is bread. I haven't been eating any carbs (with the exception of fruits and veggies). Enjoy the journey and learning a different way to live.

Sarah,

I feel your pain sweetheart. I know 6 months seems like a long time and itmust be hard to not know that it's going to happen and your fate seems to be in the hands of others; the professionals.

If I may offer some advice? I would ask that you believe this is going to happen for you and move forward with purpose. I cannot tell you what having something positive to focus on and work toward did for me. No, I didn't have 6 months because I was a self-pay, non reliant on insurance...but I have struggled under a cloud of self loathing and defeatism over my weight for far too long. I gave up at least the last few years of my life unwittingly. I'm done with regret. I was living half a life at best. I really sense you are in a place like that. So, please, make the mental adjustment that THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN and move forward to act on that foundation!

I know you will start to see things in a whole new and encouraging way. Every day is new and every day you will be able to see the end of the tunnel is closer. Don't feel like you have to rush to get everything done. One thing at a time.

You are very likely not crazy. Overwhelmed, depressed, frustrated; maybe.

Stay connected kiddo. Things are going to get better! I'm praying for you.

Susan

Melissa.....I am so happy for you. Brought tears to my eyes.....about the time flying by. I hope that all of us that are overweight and living this daily struggle can get through it and come out successful. I know that nothing is fullproof and the doctor told me you can still go back to the exact same weight and emotional issues if you dont make your mind up that this is the CHANGING POINT THAT YOU HAVE DREAMED OF...AND YOU HAVE TO GRAB IT AND DONT EVER LOOK BACK. So Melissa for me and all of us who are struggling out here with our weight..........be successful and enjoy your life to the fullest and God Bless you from all of us out here..:D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
