So I am 26 years old and I am about 2 weeks post op. I plan on following a great low carb Protein packed diet....once i am able to eat . And i plan of excersing . I weigh 280 now and I would like to get to about 130 ( I dont even think I would recognize myself) My question is will i have a lot of loose skin. Im affriad of losing weight and still being unhappy. And pre op and post so far iv only lost 25 lbs but i drink allllll day long...is this normal ???? or not enough weight. Any input would really help. Thank you !

Loose skin is always better than being big boned... Just work out as much as possible to reduce the excess skin while you're losing weight.

Loose skin depends on a lot of factors, most of which are out of your control. Factors like genetics, age, skin elasticity and seems like just sheer luck play a role. Most of us have SOME excess skin when it's all over, how much just depends. Yeah it sucks but as Jhayze points out it's better than being fat. Save up and get a lift. Or just wear modest clothes and cover it up.

I went from 254 to 129 and I am 53 now. I am not too bad skin wise at all ad at 26 you will probably be fine. You need to drink plenty of fluids when you are burning fat don't worry. Much love :) x

I was 32 when I had my revision, and now I'm 34 with loose, wrinkly, flabby skin.

So many factors go into how your skin will rebound post-op. Time is your best friend. I can honestly tell you that I'll take the loose, wrinkly skin over back fat rolls, and my thighs rubbing together constantly.

Ethnicity, age, genetics and how long you've been obese all play a larger role in how your skin will rebound than anything else. Skin is stretched and loses elasticity, building muscles help fill in the skin, but there's no guarantee you won't have some trademark of weight loss surgery.

If I would work out more, I could tone it up. I can say that at 2 years out, my skin has rebounded nicely, but I have noticeable wrinkly, flabby, loose skin. I'm just not letting it get me down 100%. It's tough, but being fat is way tougher.

Gotcha Gooood to know thank you . For a few years now i have worn super tight tanks under my clothes I got so used to the feeling that I couldnt leave house with out one on . So im hoping that will help thats what they tell preggo people to do. It makes you look like 10 lbs smaller I could never have the feeling of fat being loose , I know im nuts!!

I do have flabby skin at 35 after a 108 pound loss. My stomach is the worst (but I also did have three kids). My thighs are pretty bad too. I read someone on the forum refer to their thighs as elephant skin and I will say that is a pretty good comparison. You can't really tell with my clothes on, so that's a plus. I have started reformer pilates and that is supposed to help. I am still extremely happy and I would have the surgery again in a heartbeat. Shopping is fun now and it is amazing to be able to go into a store and have such a huge selection to choose from. Weights have really helped my arms. I look forward to hearing about your journey!!!

I have loose and wrinkly skin :( mainly on my tummy and back of thighs, BUT I am 43 yrs. old and have had 2 babies (now 14 and 19) and gained and lost, and gained and lost weight many many times over the years...AND I don't exercise on a daily basis, or use weights ugh. You are still young and have a better chance of your skin not being as flabby or as loose, everyone is different. Fingers crossed for you :)

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
