My name is Mitzi and I had the sleeve on May 18. I had the band three years ago, but had many complications with that. Anyway, I just don't feel right. My stomach feels "hollow" and I'm just miserable. I have been depressed since having the surgery and I can't hardly eat anything. I am on Stage IV, which is eating whatever you want (healthy, of course). I can't even eat 1/2 of a sandwich w/o it making me sick. I just want to feel "normal" again. I think I made a BIG mistake. Is anyone else as miserable as me? If you were, how long did it take before you felt better? :(

if you're eating the sandwhich, maybe it's the bread that's making you sick? i'm not sure

many sleevers can't tolerate bread after surgery. are you getting sick on everything else you eat?

I can't tell you 100%, because I am still waiting to get sleeved, but I can tell you that I won't be on "anything I want" for a few MONTHS after surgery. Plus eating bread and such makes my sister sick, as does eating too fast. Small, slow bites...are you eating too fast maybe?

I was sick in te beginning too. I think it was becasue I was still trying to figure out what was my limits, how did this or that affect my body, and what didn;t sit well. I didnt introduce bread until well after 2 months. i stuck with my Protein (maily fish and turkey plus cheese) and with my vegs. Make sure you are not eating and drinking at the same time. Everyone's body is different. So if you are still feeling sick, you may need to go back to mushies for a week then try again. Hope this helps.

Maybe it is the bread, but I will say that sleevers can tolerate bread after surgery, just maybe not as early out as you are.

It will get easier in time. That sounds like a lame cliche, but I certainly found it to be true.

Good luck to you, and believe me, you did NOT make a mistake by being sleeved.smile.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
