Recommended Posts

Hi, have you been successful in forming a Chicago Area Sleeve group? If yes, I would like to join. Just had my surgery last week.

I'm scheduled for August 26th with Dr. Joyce at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox/Joliet. I could not be more excited! I wish it was sooner but my schedule just won't allow it. Hoping time goes quickly!

I was just sleeved with dr Joyce 5/13/13. The staff was amazing. I can't say anything bad about about my experience.

Yay! That's great! How has your recovery been?

My recovery was fine. I was sore and nauseated in the hospital. The morphine button made me sick, so they kept giving me anti- nausea meds. Other than that my recovery was fine. My first 2 days home I took the Vicodin. I was just really tired. My 3rd day I was out at the grocery store and Home Depot buying flowers with the help of one of my friends. In about 3 weeks out now and I don't even feel like I've had surgery, besides eating less.

I'm scheduled for June 18th, at Alexian Brothers with Dr.Kane.

I have a consultation scheduled with Dr. Kane. The soonest he could see me was July 1. I'm nervous and anxious, but can't wait to get this process started. If you wouldn't mind keeping me posted on your experience I would love to hear how you like Dr. Kane and Alexian Bros. Good luck!

It's awesome to hear you're doing well! I can't wait! Have you lost much yet? What was your starting weight?

I was sleeved in december with Dr rantis at the Kane center. I can't speak for Dr Kane but rantis was amazing. Very nice, very caring. Truly cared about what he was doing and took it very serious. I had single site sleeve. If they offer it to you, do it. I think it made recovery much, much faster.

If you search Kane center on here a few posts will pop up.

If you have any questions pm me.

Wow! Thanks so much! I never heard of the single site sleeve but I will definitely ask! Maybe I will see if Dr. Rantis can see me earlier because I really want to get this process started. I have seen a couple people on here post about him and everyone seems to have liked him. Thanks again for the info!

I think they all are great. I have Dr.Kane and scheduled for June 18th. It took me about one month to get through all of the appointments etc. My approval was quick.I was really on top of getting appointments so this was a quick process for me. I'm on the pre op diet now.

That's good to know. Everything I have read about Kane Center has been positive. What is the preop diet like? How long do you have to do it? June 18 is right around the corner! Good luck!

The pre op diet is 15 days of liquids only before surgery. 4-5 shakes a day, Water, broth, sugar free Jello and popsicles. You can add oatmeal, fruit and yogurt to your blended shakes. The 15th day, which should be the day before surgery is Clear Liquids only. The first two days were rough but it has been better after. You will get tired of sweets though.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
