Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Pre-op peeps- I want to give you

Recommended Posts

OK- I have thought all day about describing my hard day but the posting I have managed to do has taxed me.

On my You Tube (link below) I have one vlog that goes from leaving for the hospital through coming home with a few diff videos. Then today I have a fairly miserable video.

What you need to know is that in spite of how miserable I feel I would do it again!

Good luck to all of you!

ohmygosh Meggie you poor thing! :( I feel so bad for you as I watch your video. Have you tried the gallon jugs of spring Water? Maybe those won't taste so bad and the store brands are fairly cheap. Also the bruising on your arms, they may have had to move you while you were out of it OR when they helped you get up and you don't remember it happening? Either way...UGH! that sucks!

Thank you for your brutal honesty on youtube, it really does help those of us that will be going through it!

XOXO Renee`

I'm watching some of your other videos now and saw the one of the night before. I have to say you son is so handsome and so SWEET when he bends over to kiss his "brother" and I could see the love in his eyes and how proud he is of you. You're very lucky to have been so blessed.

Absolutely loved the videos. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Sorry you are having some problems getting stuff in. I am sure you will keep trying and you will win that battle.

I am scheduled for surgery on June 6th and I will be conscious of your videos and know that I too might have problems and will know it is normal. As I have been told, it gets better everyday.

Hang in there and you will win this journey. One day at a time.

Meggie,

Thanks so much for sharing your journey! I hope that the liquids start to go down a little easier for you soon. My mantra is "this too shall pass" and I repeat it to myself constantly when I get tired of the stupid Protein drinks and want to eat something different.

Can't view YouTube at work but I will check out your video at home tonight. Thanks for posting it when you are clearly not feeling up to par yet! :(

I suspect each day will get a little bit better though and the results will be worth it!

Thank you- he is a bright light for sure! Thanks for the tip about the spring Water too.

Today is a bit better- I am actually getting a 30g Protein shake down by setting my iPhone for every 15 minutes and using the 30ml cups they gave me at the hospital- every 15 30 ml of Protein Shake then 30 ml of water or warm tea.

Someone posted elsewhere that you shouldn't worry about Protein as much the first week and that took the pressure off of me for sure!

Naturally I will make a video later ;-P

Thanks for sharing your journey!

I watched the video with the guy in the hospital room next to yours and I was cracking up!:D I used to work in a hospital and we were so used to having patients like that!

Hi Meggie, so glad you're doing better each and every day. I watched your Youtube videos and really appreciate you doing them. To be honest I haven't watched a lot of them but probably will in the next few weeks. I wish you continued success each and every day with getting in more and more Water and Protein too. Like everyone say's each day it gets a little easier. Take care and I look forward to more wonderful posts and videos.

Meggie, I hope you start feeling better real soon. I have surgery in 10 days and thought I was coming down with a cold, but it's just allergies and sinus. The pharmacist told me I could take Sudafed as it is not a blood thinner. I feel so much better today.

Love your videos. You are very inspiring. Although watching you make that cake (my favorite by the way..red velvet) made me super hungry. lol In n Out doesn't bother me..I live down the street from one and pass it all the time. But, everything is looking good to me right now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
