No, I go in on the 25th to Dr. Aceves. I'm excited and scared like everyone else, but I'm really more afraid of going into a flare afterward. I have severe Fibro / CFS and even on my best day it's not great and I have a hard time because of the pain. I'm on Hydrocodone 7.5mg every 4 hours, 300 mg of Lyrica twice a day and 35 mgs of Effexor, all for Fibro. I never was depressed, just in horrible pain like someone is pouring acid in my muscles. Since they'll be going through muscle to get to the tummy...*groans* I'm really scared. Any advice?

Did they help you alot with pain management after the surgery? I'm worried about the waking up part, although I guess NOT waking up would be worse LOL

I think I'm just experiencing what everyone does before they undergo any surgery, with the added worry that my body is going to be screaming in pain. I really REALLY (can't put enough "really's" in there! lol) don't want my muscles to feel like acid is flowing through them again. I'm kinda screwed because my Rheumatoid specialist says I'm at the end of the line, there is nothing more they can do for me and this isn't acceptable to me which is why I'm choosing surgery, to see how much of the pain I can take away. I've heard conflicting reports back but I'm willing to take my chances and place my bets (I'm a Vegas girl, we bet on anything ;) ) and do it.

Thanks for any info you can give!

I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & Fibromyalgia too. I used to take lots of meds & gained weight.... I got tired of not "feeling" like myself & went cold turkey. Some mornings I wake up & get everything done on my to-do list... Others days it hurts to even attempt to roll over in the bed.... However, I'm still determined to have this procedure(scheduled for July 1st w/ Dr. Aceves). Somehow, I think the weight loss will help decrease some of the pain I feel. I just hope I don't have a really bad flare up once I get the procedure. I look forward to hearing other experiences with the sleeve & Fibro/CFS...

Hi Renee, I'm in a similar boat. My fibro pain is not as bad as yours :( but my fatigue / brain fog can be really terrible. I also have sleeve surgery on May 25th and am scared it'll knock me back to where I was before I began to slowly recover. You're not alone! Tho I don't have any helpful surgical advice for you since I haven't had it yet either :)

But one thing I can recommend is the book _From Fatigued to Fantastic!_. Thanks to doing some (but not all) of the suggestions in that book, I feel MUCH better. I got a diagnosis thanks to that book... and got put on some stuff to help me sleep, sleep better, and also diflucan for chronic sinusitis/possible gut dysbiosis, as well as taking d-ribose and magnesium for muscle pain. These treatments have helped SO much. The book is totally no-nonsense, almost all recommendations are backed up with multiple research studies, and hopefully it will help you the way it's helped me!

I am still terrified that I'll get knocked back to where I was due to the stress of the surgery... but I'm crossing my fingers it won't be so bad. And anyway, now I know how to help myself heal. But I still don't want to go back to here I was :(

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
