Whimsical Clay,

Hang in there, you're doing great! I lost 19lbs in pre-diet shrink the liver. A smaller liver makes surgery that much easier for the surgeon. Keep going only 4 more days!!!

Hi Terry,

I have to ask you, since you had surgery the day after I did...This is embarassing but...did I meet you as you were going in? (I'm Traci, btw; short-long blond hair - trailed by I.V. stand and tall dark DH...) I realized that the aftereffects of the anesthesia wiped out whole chunks of my memory. It's very strange to look at e-mails I've obviously typed but have NO recollection of whatsoever!

Anyway, congrats...sounds like you're doing great! I've been in jeans for awhile, but seatbelts are now my Nemesis.

Thanks Kate and Joliesmom!

I'm trying really hard to hang in there. And I keep reading the boards for support. I just left the lapband website and there are great success stories. I am so looking forward to being one of them.

Kate - I have to give myself the lovenox 1 day before surgery and then for the next 14 days afterwards. My 10 year old has volunteered to do this and she is looking forward to sticking me.

Keeping my chin up...4 days to go:clap2:

Hey everyone,

Had surgery yesterday at 9:30 a.m. and was home by 3:30 p.m. All went well, and I could have stayed longer, but I was feeling pretty good and just wanted my own bed! I woke in the middle of the night to a very sore port area, but I took my pain meds, and was fine. I'm so glad to have the surgery over with. I empathize with you all in the pre-op diet and the worry that I didn't lose enough before the surgery. I thankfully have a very understanding surgeon who told me after the surgery that my liver could have been a bit smaller, but that everything went fine. Hang in there everybody, we all know that it will be worth it in the end.

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to post for a little moral support. I'm getting really nervous and anxiety is kicking in big time. My doc requires so much pre-op stuff that is just now hitting me like a ton of bricks. I'm just feeling very overwhelmed...in addition to the lack of food I have to do the following.

It sounds like you are doing great so far!! I know the pre-op stuff can be very over-whelming. You have done well on your pre-op diet for 11 days, so just keep telling your self...4 more days, 4 more days, 4 more days....

Keep your head up and if you get over-whelmed just stop by LBT and vent. That's what we are all here for...support.

Good Luck!

I still have a couple of weeks to go until I will be on solids, but wanted to get a feel of how many calories, fat, and Protein surgeons have recommended to those of you who are close to or on solids. I don't recall reading this anywhere from my surgeon and was just curious. Of course I will go by what my sugeon says in a few weeks, but just thought I ask others.

Hi Losin' It -- I'm glad you asked that! I'm still on mushy foods, but am curious about the protein/carb/fat ratio I should shoot for in an average day. All I've gotten from my surgeon is to shoot for 60g of Protein a day, but I'd like more comprehensive suggestions. Thanks for asking the question!

I had my surgery Aug 18 at the Hurst surgery center with Dr. Robert snow in Texas. I was originally scheduled with Dr. Carter and as they were wheeling me into surgery he got real sick and had to go to the emergency room and they sent me home un banded. He rescheduled surgery with me and then had to cancel it again the day before. So I said forget that and switched doctors and was scheduled the very next week. I didn't have to do the pre op diet. My BMI was only 32.1 I have a lot of port pain and gas and am taking pain meds quite often. I haven't weighed yet because the scale is too much of a trigger for me. Plus I feel really swollen and bloated still. My stomach is actually bigger than when I went in for surgery. I am not hungry at all and have only been taking in about 600 calories a day since surgery. I feel real great though even though I am really sore. I have a low profile port because my stomach is pretty flat already. I just am big every where else. Especially my boobs! I can't wait to see them go!

I don' know how to do the ticker things yet. Maybe my husband can help me with that.

Blessings August Banders

hey guys, I just wanted to check in....I'm now 3 days out and I'm having a tough recovery. I'm allergic to codine so they put me on hydrocodone which ended up making me nausous 2 days in a row so now I'm on a pill that gets crushed and taken in apple sauce or pudding but it tastes awefull so I only take it if I'm in ALOT of pain. I'm basically just having port pain and gas pain but I really can't take in much liquid without feeling like I have to stop. I tried Tomato Soup yesterday and I only got in like 4 sips and had to stop, did anyone else experience this?? I didn't expect to be so tight immediately after surgery....or is it maybe gas in my tummy???

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
