What would pick to eat on your first mushie day?

Recommended Posts

I was really not very prepared for the "diet" part of WLS -- in fact I sort of was not prepared for any of it -- I just picked Dr. Aceves and went because I knew if I thought about it too hard I just wouldn't do itt.

But that leaves me in certain quandaries. Like I never "tested" Protein Drink brands. I just ate whatever, and found myself wandering the grocery store aisles trying to figure out what to eat. I am certain this contributed to the Baby food Incident and Operation Isopure's complete failure.

So it's day 21 tomorrow and I can have mushies.

I have no idea what to try first. I was thinking a litttle bit of cottage cheese and maybe some mashed potatoes or Cereal.

What would be your choice for this momentous occasion? What did you eat when you were on mushies, what were your favorites, what was too much for your stomach?

I had oatmeal with Splenda and cinnamon thinned with skim milk. It was hot, not too sweet, not chocolate-flavored, and had some Fiber in it. I managed about 1/4 cup. I tried scrambled eggs and could eat about half of one. Seasoned refried Beans with plain Greek yogurt on top was good, too.

Today was my first day on mushies and I was/am a bit scared. Weird, how attached I got to all the liquids (safe, ya know). Anywho...I made 1 pack of cream of wheat, added cinnamon and 1/2 pack of Truvia and a bit of soy milk to thin it out. I ate a few bites this morning and literally just finished the rest this afternoon. Still working on my cup of tea from this morning too. Never thought cream of wheat could taste so good! I also have some cottage cheese, apple sauce and ricotta in the fridge for this week. Looking for more suggestions, as I tend to stick to the same ole things.

Thanks all :)

I went to the store and bought some cottage cheese, refried Beans, mashed potatoes in a box, eggs, taco seasoning and salsa, and there this indian thing they sell prepackaged called Palak Paneer which is mild indian cottage cheese with spinach sauce. It's really good, nine carbs per serving and 170 cals.

I can not *wait* for the mashed potatoes.

I remember that first day and I had a scrambled egg. I thought it was the best thing I had ever eaten in my life. I ate about 3/4 of it and still enjoy eggs almost every day now. I remember eating refried Beans with melted cheese, ricotta, mashed potatoes, egg salad, tuna salad and applesauce. Enjoy your mushies!

I think mashed potatoes would be too thick, but maybe thinned out with hot gravy....yum! But I think my first food will be an egg. I can't wait to try a soft, buttery scrambled egg...I'm salivating just thinking about it!

I'm another one who is really, really ready to have a scrambled egg, but I have another week of liquids. :-) I'll make it. But someone else posted about FF refried Beans with FF sour cream and some FF cheese, and now I'm craving that. LOL All in good time. The fun of this is, it doesn't feel like a "have to." It just feels like something I'm going to enjoy when it's time to enjoy it. I never had that sort of control before.

Cheers, all!

Meg

I so wanted advocado. I mashed it up and it was awesome. I think the healthy fat helped with my energy level as well. I was all about the eggs, too.

Although I was never a big egg eater before I am having a total love affair with them now.

Good luck in that first foray- I remember how nervewracking it was!

During the liquid phase I was craving mashed potatoes and counting the days til I could have them. I lived on them for the mushy phase but could only eat 3-4 teaspoons at a time. I tried the cream of wheat but....just wasn't for me. Good luck!

I start mushies on Tuesday and am thinking I will do some greek yogurt (bought Chobani vanilla) for Breakfast, some cottage cheese for lunch and maybe some mashed potatoes for dinner. I also have been trying these Myoplex Lite Protein drinks in between. I can't seem to drink too much of one - three days and I'm still working on the first one which has still a few ounces left in it, but that's my plan. I also bought those little Jello sugar free puddings for a treat. I'm excited...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
