Who got a goal outfit after (or just before) their surgery? I was told it was a good idea to get a goal outfit. Something to look forward to I guess. I can't seem to let go of the fear of not making it to the goal and not fitting the clothing. I keep putting off the purchase.

Any ideas how to get over myself? What did you do?

Just yesterday I came across the CUTEST size 8 jeans at a garage sale. I bought them and let my sister "borrow" them until I can wear them. She and my mom both kind of looked at me funny and later started in about reasonable goals, etc. I can tell they don't think I'll get there but who cares! I want out of the double didgets SO bad I can't stand it. :) i didn't want to spend big bucks on an outfi but wa happy to find my $5 goal jeans. ;)

I didn't purchase anything new as a goal outfit, but I had this pair of Levis that I was itching to get into. By the time, I went to try on those little jeans, I had shrunk right out of them. Of course, they are ancient jeans, and due to vanity sizing for manufacturers a size 8 15 years is way different than a size 8 today. But, I skipped sizes, and went would really use caution spending a lot of money on a goal outfit just because you might shrink right over that size.

I LOVE this! That's what I am hoping for! I do have some sizes just a little smaller than me in my closet in capri's that I would be thrilled to get to wear late this summer, then I have nothing until size 10's. I have lots of sweatshirts that I am counting on getting me through most of the winter and some stretch pants too - will pick up supplemental stuff at Goodwill when I need to. The 10's I have are from garage sales, hand me downs from my daughter or left from my foray at goal about 7 years ago with weight watchers. But hey, I won't be upset if I skip those 10's LOL

I just was at value village today and bought the cutest lululemon jacket. It's almost able to zip up and I can't wait til it does!!! Plus, paying 10 bucks instead of the 70 or 80 bucks is just perfectly fine with me!!!!

I know its silly -but at size 22 I have a pair of jeans that I love- and fit perfectly my shape- so I went back and bought a 18, 14, and a 10- 10 is my goal size- hopefully they will fit like a glove at each stage of loss. :)

I have a goal outfit in mind... as size 12 (UK) pair of Bench jeans... not sure on the top to go with it (probably a Medium or Small Take That tour tee-shirt...lol) ... perhaps something fitted and colourful???

I ain't bought the jeans yet... but when I do, you will hear my whoops from over the pond!!!

I had bought a pair of MK jeans at ROSS awhile back and they were SUPER tight then and I thought I would lose and fit into them, well that never happened but I have held onto them! They were my FIRST goal jeans because they are a 14 and I have been a 14 in my adult life (not smaller though) and I have it that goal already and I have a feeling I don't be able to wear them for long so I'm wearing the heck outta them!! LOL

I you Lanette I would just LOVE to be out of double digits someday but I don't honestly seeing it happen for me but if I could be a 10 or 12 that would be AWESOME! I was a 10 in high school (of course I was the big girl too) and I would LOVE to be there again!

I just can't buy a goal outfit. I want so badly to. But, size wise I have NO idea what to even get. So it makes me nervous.

Therefore, I have change I'm saving and a gift card so that I can go try on a bunch of outfits and find one I love.

I have so many clothes right now that are goal oriented. I saved a great deal pair of jeans and pants that I saved over the years while I gained a bunch of weight. There are maybe 10 or so pairs. So far I've been able to get comfortably into 3 pairs already and now they are in the Goodwill bin. I just wanted to be able to fit into them again, and let me tell you when I finally fit into that first pair - IT WAS SUCH AN INCREDIBLE FEELING!!! I've been holding onto them for 20 years!!!

They were made back in the day before stores started making the vanity sizing. I have one pair 16's Levi's that I can get into now, and 2 pairs of 14's!!

:D

I definitely suggest having numerous pants that you can *almost* fit into at any time. It's so great when you can finally get into them. Try them on often - especially if you are going through a stall. It always makes me feel instantly better.

Do it one step at a time. Go shopping and try them on in the fitting room - get them a bit too small and work your way into them. Once you fit in them, go get some more pants for the next size down.

Okay - try this for a goal outfit. My bridal gown. I had surgery in Sept...married in Feb. No, the two dates are not related So when I went out to purchase a wedding gown it had to be off the rack. Bought it before Christmas and shop lady thought I was crazy when I asked for a street size 8. She insisted I buy street size 10 which as the time I could not even zip up without breaking the zipper (yep I did on initial sample gown).

To cut to the end of the story - ended up spending more $$$ than I bought the dress for in alterations - for a street size 6 dress wedding gown which still hung on me a little. Listen to Tiffykins: don't spend a lot of $$. I shot right out of one size and into another within a week. ARGH

What a complaint, right? HA HA - a year ago my complaints would have been so different. No regrets, love my sleeve.

I agree with Diva! My goal was a size 10. I ended up skipping size 10 bottoms all together and jumped into an 8...now I'm wearing 6's YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! BEST FEELING EVER :)

I went to the January sales just before my surgery, and bought a stunning little Lipsy dress for £8, I went for a UK size 14, as the smallest I have ever been is a 16, and at the time I bought it I was a 22/24 so I thought I was being dangerously optimistic, so announced that I wanted to be wearing that dress by christmas day 2011.

When I bought the dress it wouldnt even fit over my shoulders, so I put it in a picture frame and just looked at it for 6 weeks, then curiosity got the better of me, I took it out and tried it on, and it went over my shoulders!

I try it on around once a fortnight now, and its about 1/2 inch away from fastening at the bust, but otherwise fits great, and I've decided to wear it to a friend's wedding in May instead.

I went for something nice, but inexpensive, and optimistic, but not frighteningly so, and gave myself a looong initial time frame to aim for, I am so glad I have that goal dress because even with it only zipped 3/4 of the way up it feels great stepping into something which I couldn't get 2 shoulders into in January.

Go for it would be my advice!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
