I have hypothyroidism, too, and haven't had my surgery yet. Do you take your Levoxyl or whatever as usual after surgery?

Absolutely. In fact I was told to take it the morning of my surgery. While in the hopital my nurse would crush it up in a spoonfull of applesauce for me to eat. When I got home I split my Levoxyl in half the first day but the next day I just swollowed it on down with some Water (not a problem).

Best of luck to you.... I'm 15 days out and doing great. I love my Gummy Vitamins so stock up on those and don't forget your sublingual B-12. They even make gummy Vitamin D's.....:P

I am 3 weeks and 2 days post op. I have absolutely no energy. I'm so tired. I take Vitamins, I eat Protein. I don't know whats wrong with me. I get so jealous of the people that say they are losing and have so much more energy now. I'm losing but no energy. I get pains in my leg I have an ear infection. I'm miserable. So sorry just venting.

Hi Vickie,

Keep following the post surgery instructions and one morning you will wake up with more energy. It took me about seven weeks to get to experience the energy boost. I am a sleeve and hiatal hernia patient.

Good luck.

I was sleeved on the 17th. I have occasionally felt I had no energy but not very often. I take B12 prescription nose spray weekly. I take 3 Calcium chewable a and 2 Multivitamins, which come with my nose spray. I feel pretty darn good.

What kind of Protein are you taking in? I went today to get some more Protein powder so I explained to the guy at the nutrition store that I needed to get more bang for my buck on Protein. I takes me so long to drink my shake that I am having a hard time getting everything in. This guy told me that all protein is not the same and that I need a protein that digests slowly so that I feel fuller longer which also gives me more energy. He sold me PE Science Select which is a blended Protein Powder and he also recommended Lean Body which is a pre-mixed drink that has 40 grams of protein in a 17 ounce bottle.

I am only 5 days post op so I am not having many issues with being tired. I took a nap on Sunday, the first day I was out of the hospital and after that I have been on my regular schedule.

Prior to getting this protein I was using a combination of Shakeology by BeachBody (because I had some in the cabinet) and the Advocare Protein Drink (same thing, left in the cabinet from some other diet attempt)

Maybe check with a local nutrition store and see if they can recommend something else for you that might help.

Why not talk to your NUT about protein options. At 2 weeks post-op I was on full liquids (which for me included Greek yogurt and cottage cheese). I would double-check with your NUT about adding fruit to your Protein Shakes this early out.

Definitely read labels. Not all protein shakes are bariatric friendly. We need high protein, low carb shakes.< /p>

I was drinking premier Protein shakes 30g Protein . They sell them in Walmart basically any supermarket my doc said it was okay. Then I tried insopure from GNC ... I personally don't like it it's a Liquid Protein. They have great reviews though . The alpine fruit one is great... premier shakes are too thick for me & the liquid ones just taste horrible to me. I will be calling my Nut. I am going to purchase another Baritrac protein powder those are the best . Good luck ... Hope I find something good lol I love beach body by the way

Thanks will be calling her tomorrow asap ! I am on full liquids but I do not like anything lol it's very difficult. If it doesn't taste good I'll gag . It's annoying already, now as for the yogurt I have not tried it yet, cottage cheese either . I have had an egg in Soup and that went down fine. I'm going to go back to my Baritrac powder, because honestly that's the only one I love. Half of frozen banana ! Everyone is different I've seen someone 2 weeks post op eating avocados eggs and sausage, I'm here struggling. I can't eat anything yet doesn't sit well and come right up. I'll be calling my nut. Thanks

Exactly everyone is different that's what I keep in mind! Also I can not be taking all these Vitamins & meds (thyroid) if I have zero fuel in my stomach. I feel light headed and weak. not happening lol. I am going to ask my doctor about the B12 nose spray ! Sounds cool. My problem is taking in liquids any form of protein! Nothing taste good to me... I will be calling my Nut tomorrow & Doctor. Thank you

vickie I am 5 weeks out and still am having a problem with energy..Until you get on solid foods you are going to be limited.. The anesthesia usually takes at least 4 weeks to get out of your system..Be kind to yourself!!! As far as weight loss the people with higher bmi lose weight faster.. So you low bmi'er don't loose that fast. You will get to your goal you just have to be patient. Get you Protein in and up your Water intake as much as possible. You will start feeling better soon..

Thanks I needed to hear this too.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
