I must have missed this post, too! I plan on being sleeved at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti...not too far from the Ann Arbor area. I can't wait!

Congrats to everyone already sleeved... I can't wait to get my own!!! I'm scheduled for July 5th at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn w/ Dr. Bacal.... I've only met him once, but he really seems like a nice guy & knows his stuff! Another big plus is that his office staff are so awesome! I go in Thursday 5/26 to have a scope done of my stomach because I've had acid reflux forever and have never had that done before, he wants to make sure that I don't have any undiagnosed ulcers or any other problems in there... Other than that, I completed my psych evaluation on Friday and things are just cruising right along... I am so excited!! July can't get here fast enough!:D

Nice to 'meet' you all!

Wendy

I live in Michigan (around Clio), but because I am so often in Cincinnati for work, I'm actually going to be having my VSG surgery done in Ohio.

Congrats to everyone who has had it done already. Wendy, I'm sure your surgery will go off without a problem. :)

Hi Madison

Yes they are still happening. Every Monday night from 5-6pm at the GHP office. Also if you're on Facebook we have a peer ran group page too. Both the meetings and the facebook page are terrific. If you want to find the facebook page search for GHP Support on facebook. Who was your surgeon? I had Dr Baker and can not say enough great things about him.

I was going to go with Dr. Baker (he was hilarious at the orientation!) but I ultimately decided on Dr. Foote. I think they were both very kind, and extremely talented. I will try to make it to the next meeting, that Monday is actually the day I have my 2-week post-op appointments scheduled! Can you give me an idea of what sorts of things they do/talk about at these meetings? I'm usually very shy/quiet. >.<

Sure can. It's usually a group between 18-26 surgical patients and a GHP staff member. We talk about issues we're having, how things are going, etc. There are those that have been post op for 4+ years and there are those that just had their surgeries last week. It is a peer led discussion session and always informative, not a lecture format at all. I usually get there about 4:30pm. I'm currently taking classes at GVSU so I have to cut out of group early, usually around 5:20pm, last week I have to do that, thank goodness. If you would like to try it out Monday I'd be happy to look for you, that way you have at least one person you "know" there. If your appointment is in the afternoon it would work great to hang around, like I said I'm usually there about 4:30. No problem if you're shy, talk as much or as little as you'd like. Check it out, it really is a great group.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
