In just 9 hours i will be on a plane to Mexico, to have my band to sleeve revision. i am really nervous about doing this alone, but excited for this new chapter in my life. i am an emotionl wreck, but im greatful for all of you and your support. the hardest part about this so far has been the liquid diet! im starving!!!!!!!! ive read that some people go out for a last meal the night before and others have to be on a liquid diet for days or even weeks. why the difference?

i will post from mexico as soon as i can, and im taking my video camera.i would like to film the whole experience if they will allow it. i sure would have liked to watch a video like that before my journey.

quick update..........i am in Tijuana at the recovery house. i had my band to sleeve revision 3 days ago by dr almanza. everything went fine and everyone here has been great! i fly home tmrw, i cant wait to see my daughter! if anyone has any questions please ask. i was terrified to go to dr almanza because of the negative things i read from other posters, but financially it was the right decision for me. i am in the process of putting my video journal of my trip on you tube. the staff let me film every area of the clinic including the OR. so i will upload that as soon as i can after i get home.

thank you! im doing great, just a little homesick cause i miss my daughter. i really wanted to go to dr kelly, but dr Almanza was more affordable. im so happy that i didnt listen to all the negative things i read before i left and just went with my gut. everything was fine, and im at the recovery house now.i have my own room with cable and wi-fi and there is always a nurse here at the recovery house and a driver. she is in the kitchen now cooking up some yummy smelling broth and the driver took me out shopping today. i found an awesome chihuahua toy for my daughter. if you are considering dr almanza i can give you christis number. she is my coordinator and she was also a patient. most of the staff have also had the sleeve. i have no regrets about comong here, and i really was scared. i cried A LOT the day of surgery! and i did this all by myself!!!! if you have any more questions please let me know. i will be posting a video of my journey when i get home.

shaundra

Congrats!! I hope you are still doing so good.

Do you mind me asking what made you change from dr kelly?

Thanks Shaundra,

Lokk forward to the vids. When do you get home to your daughter? I have been in touch with Melissa from Mt Zion (dr almanza), to be honest she is the only coordinator from tj who has answered all of my questions and concerns. If i hadnt read so much bad stuff i wouldnt think twice about doing it with him.

Im thinking about you and wishing you a safe trip home!

Funny. When they pulled our drains and IVs we headed straight to the mall.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
