Bad Weekend!

Recommended Posts

My surgeon told me that I need to lose 10 - 15 more pounds before surgery. I have plenty of time to lose the weight since surgery isn't scheduled until May and I know I can lose the weight, but this weekend I totally sabotaged myself and probably gained some weight back.

I ate soooo bad (chips, Cookies, popcorn, ice cream - you name it I probably ate it) and I'm not sure if it's because I'm afraid that after surgery I won't be able to have any of the snack-type foods for a long time or if it's because I'm scared of surgery now that I have a date, or if I just made some poor choices and need to jump back on the bandwagon.

I also threw out my back this weekend and am sure that being in pain didn't help with my food decisions. That sort of scares me because I know that things like stress and being in pain are going to happen after surgery and I want this to work for me so badly. I can't continue to live this way...any words of wisdom or encouragement would be most appreciated.

I am the same way. My surgery is scheduled for March 3 and I have been eating anything and everything for the fear that I will never be able to eat it again but then as I'm putting it into my mouth, that is when I realize what got me to where I am today. The chips, candy and popcorn have gotten me to 304 lbs and swore to myself that I would never do this to myself again. I have found that when I get a craving, I stop before I grab for something and think "How will I feel after I eat this" and that usually does it. Just remember, " Nothing taste as good as skinny feels". Good luck on your journey.

I went through the same thing. I was supposed to be changing my eating habits gradually, but I had relapses. I think it was my "last hoorah" before surgery. But you know what? We came to this decision because we wanted to make a change and it' going to be sooo worth it. Don't beat yourself up, just get back on the bandwagon. During my pre-op psych visit the doctor gave me a little technique that helped... when you're tempted to eat something, take a moment and look at it and tell yourself, "I know what this tastes like" and really mentally taste it. Then ask yourself, "do I really need this, or can you move past it". I most cases I was able to move on. Hope this helps!

I am having that problem too. My doctor says he won't do the surgery until I lose 5% of my original weight. I need to really lose another 10 pounds before february 17. my weight normally fluctuates about +/- 8 pounds day to day. uuuuughhh... I am having such a hard time. I basically follow southbeach phases 1-2. Halp!

I'm back in the game mentally today, I had my Protein shake for Breakfast and a very healthy lunch, and we're having a healthy dinner as well. I also got all of the crap that was tripping me up out of the house. Felicity you are ABSOLUTELY correct saying that nothing tastes as good as skinny feels! Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Infernored if you want a buddy just let me know! I probably need one as well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
