Clear liquid questions

Recommended Posts

Ok so 2 questions that occured to me today. While I'm on Clear liquids, do I need to be concerned with the temperatures of say the broths & herbal teas? I mean I can handle those things just fine for a few days but if they've gotta be cold I'm gonna have a problem LOL.

My other question is do I need to be overly concerned about Proteins those first few days? My dr has me on clears for 5 days. I've got the Isopure flavorless on order so I suppose I could add some to my Jello & broth... how much do you add?

Any suggestions for getting through the clears? OH!!! At what stage could I drink pulp free orange juice whether it be diluted or in a Protein Drink? ??

I had no trouble after surgery drinking hot things and broth was the best thing I had. It took me so long to drink I often had to reheat it.

Loved tea too! (I found some of my old favorites were too strong and stuck with plain old decafe tea)

Even though I was told Protein and fluids. I think Fluid is most important and just do the best you can with Protein.< /p>

I have experimented with adding unflavored protein to pudding, applesauce, and broth and hated it! I played with the amounts.

Fluids were 2 weeks for me. So my best advice is just hang in there and do your best every day. Remember it is only the first stage and things will get better. If you feel overwhelmed or tried of the fluids just hop on VST and we will all be here for you.

For me I was told no citrus for the first 8 weeks. I would ask others though. I have found my Nut program is a bit stricter than others. I can have orange crystal light though (if that helps).

Good Luck to you.

I am on clear fluids right now. I had purchased different types of broth to have on hand when I got home, but ended up hating them. Finally, I made my own chicken broth and beef broth and am loving them...they are getting me through, actually bringing comfort. I have a post on here on how to make them....in the same post someone shared that the broth from Vietnamese Pho Soup is yummy. I have a friend bring me some as I type and can't wait. Also, there are several sf Popsicles and I bought all of them, and at this time, I am eating my favorite ones...which happens to be the Edy's.

For some reason Water doesn't feel as too to drink as Crystal Light does. Again, I bought lots of flavors of Crystal Light to try and am drinking what I really like.

Hot, cold, warm....they have all agreed with me.

Hope this helps!

Hot Drinks and room temperature drinks work for me, cold ones make me feel uncomfortable inside. I tried the clear Protein nectar drinks and I thought they were chalky-tasting and vile, so I'm drinking boullion and eating sf Jello. I am supposed to be on clears for 10 days (until Saturday) but I will probably move to thin liquids tomorrow since I'm hoping not to lose my hair.< /p>

Is it the lack of Protein that causes the Hair loss?

My surgery is upcoming and I ppan to use dilute Isopure as part of my clear diet. Will this prevent hair loss?

Surgery, rapid weight loss, and poor Protein levels (among other causes) can cause Hair loss. Not everyone loses their hair but I have lost some of mine already due to hypothyoidism and menopause and if I'm going to lose it I'd like to limit the causes.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
