African American Sleevers

Recommended Posts

Well today I have the banana cream and it has 18 sugars,18 carbs and 11 Proteins. The caramel is high. It's good as a treat, but you have to really be careful. I don't take in that many sugars at one time, so the first time I had this one I was like Weee! So just have that in place of something sweet.

Yeah, the greek yogurt is good for us especially the Protein count. But the problem lays when they have those delicious varities. Maybe get the regular greek yogurt and add some Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup, homemade fruit compote or some sugar free perserves. That will help with less sugar. My NUT suggested that I try to keep lok for things with 5g or less of sugar.

I can't justify that much sugar so I don't eat flavored yogurt. I'd rather get plain and flavor it with a sugar free Syrup or fold some fruit into it with a packet of splenda.

Ralphs/Kroger sell a brand called CarbMaster. Really low in sugar and good taste if you don't get too wild with flavors (I don't like super sweet yogurt, so carrot cake yogurt is just a big old no).

I understand I am a revised sleeve from the lap band that was a failure so I live in fear that this is not going to work either...I'm trying not to stay on the scale I'm five months out and thought I would have lost a lot more, I'm not complaining cause I know its going to come off eventually so stay encouraged.

I need to just stop looking at everybody's YouTube videos I get so depressed when they are at 4 months and have lost 50 or more lbs and I've only lost 25 it hurts my feelings so bad...makes me feel like I'm not doing enough...I don't have as much to lose I knw but its just disappointing

Word of advice from a veteran sleever who fell off of the wagon since surgery almost two years ago...protein, Protein, protein and lots of water! I've been re-energized by doing this and feel like my sleeve is working for me again...I've cut down on carbs tremendously (most come from fruits), and I've focused on staying hydrated. For new sleevers, don't ever get discouraged! Follow your surgeon and nutritionist's instructions and the pounds will melt off. As you progress, stay away from slider foods (my downfall) and focus on protein first; it will keep you fuller longer. I haven't hit onederland yet, but I sure am looking forward to getting there. Just 21 pounds to go! Stay focused all! Keep your eyes on the prize and remember why you did all this! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
