African American Sleevers

I also received the shots in the stomach while in the hospital. It's a pretty common practice' date=' helps to prevent blood clots. I was sleeved on July 29th. I've had very little if any major issues other than the typical - drinking Water, intake of 70-80 grams of protein.[/quote']

I have to do the 2x a day shots for 30 days. You don't?

Hey people' date=' I am 3-days post-op! 8/19 and feeling good. I am getting my fluids in taking anti gall stone pills and prilosec along with all liquid vitamins from C, B-Complex, B-12, multi, hair nails skin, Calcium caltrate among other things.

What's puzzling to me is I havent read anyone else discussing giving shots 2x to the abdomen after surgery. They are blood thinners but I was terrified but I did it. So happy.

I got them while I was in the hospital for 2 days once I was release I didn't have to get them I guess. I just made sure I was up and walking. I guess each doctor is different.

I pray all went well with the surgery.

My surgery is not until Wednesday 28th, but I took the tea like you suggested! Did all Clear Liquids, and lost almost 2 pounds! Yea! I haven't don't Protein shakes! Just straight Water and broth! That protein is horrible! I will try to get some in over the weekend, but Monday and Tuesday I'm doing straight clear liquids!

Welcome and good luck to you on both of your journeys.

Thank you. Cancer to me is much easier to beat and conquer than losing weight.. for it's amazingly true.

Congrats. I'm in Jersey too. Are you in Central Jersey??

I was closer to NYC, but recently moved to southern NJ, not far from Atlantic City. I need to update my profile...bad habit really.

I never had shots... while in the hospital they gave me blood thinners. But even those were just shots in the arm. Maybe it depends on your blood work when you leave or how much you're moving around... personally I walked a lot after surgery. I'm talking mere hrs after surgery I wanted to get up and walk (it helped with the gas pain). But every doctor and what they prescribe is different.

My doctor orders for everybody. The shots were delivered 3wks before I was even approved. They started them in the hospital the morning of surgery. One shot per day for 20 days

Wow! Yeah I didn't go through that... and actually glad. I can't imagine giving myself a shot every day for 20 days. Every doctor is definitely different

I can't lie the whole box is still in my room. I just couldn't do it. I just made sure I got up walked hourly to prevent blood clots. Just call me chicken.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
