Sassy I would definitely call your surgeon's office and tell them what's going on. They should be able to advise. Best to you for a speedy recovery!

They make an anti-nausea suppository. If you are really suffering, or worried about dehydration. It is worth it. You might want to ask your surgeon's office when you call. Don't wait until you are dehydrated.

Yes, please call your doc ASAP! The more nauseous you feel, the more dehydrated you will get, which will then increase your nausea. Call your doctor, and feel better soon!!!!

Maybe your doctor could get you a

Scopolamine patch (Brand name: Transderm Scop)

this is a patch that is used for motion sickness. I had my procedure on Monday and woke up with nausea. They placed the patch on me and it resolved my nausea. It will last 7 - 10 days wich should be perfect.

Easy to apply - just make sure you wash your hands REALLY good after touching these.

Good Luck.

Using a scopolamine patch as previously stated is a great idea, and I also had Zofran that was orally disintegrating. This way you don't have to try to take in any Fluid to swallow the pill. Most importantly, as everyone has said, call your doc. Not only can they get you something better to control your nausea, they can also assess to make sure you aren't having any kind of complication. Good luck. I had nausea for several days, and actually spent 4 nights in the hospital due to the N/V. I still have nausea in the mornings, but my Pepcid takes care of that. I'm 15 days post-op.

i agree with the others. The patch has really helped me. I haven't had severe nausea, but it's helps with that little twinge. Please call your doctor so you don't get dehydrated. My doctor prescribed Phenagren (sp) and I keep it in my frig as an emergency back. Feel better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
