8 month "stall" & disgusted with myself

Recommended Posts

I think what everyone has already said is excellent advice. The only thing to probably stress is that I really think that if you do the 5 day pouch test, you will find you can't eat a cup and a half in one sitting. There is a difference between eating a cup and a half of say a milk shake or a piece of cake because you are starting to get into what is referred to as "slider foods". That is the very reason they say to get your Proteins in first..... Proteins in first.... I would be willing to bet that you wouldn't be able to eat a cup and a half of chicken or turkey in one sitting.

Let that be your test to see where your at and like others have said, get yourself re-focused on your final goal. You know that even while pregnant you will need to stay focused on healthy eating and that should help you with weight gain for the baby.

Good luck! You can do it.

take a deep breath and remember, you are NOT horrible. None of us are horrible. You just have to get back to working your sleeve. What everyone says is right. Try LilMissDiva's basics boot camp plan thingy - and make sure you're always eating your Proteins first, veggies second, cards last. That Protein will fill you up fast.

Next, ask yourself why you have gone off your plan. Is there something that you're trying to avoid? Get right with yourself and things will fall into place. Maybe you're not quite ready to have kids yet. Maybe you want to enjoy your new body for a while. You're YOUNG and have plenty of time! Just be honest with yourself if that is it and be honest with your husband as well. Take the time to figure out what's going on with you. :) You're worth it :)

Hmmm, even if you can eat 1.5 cups of food, as long as you stick to lean Protein, fruits and veggies, it still shouldn't cause a gain. It's just more of a matter of what those 1.5 cups are. Good luck.

I can't fool myself when I look in the mirror I still look 350 lbs and I have lost 80 lbs. I so want to ge to my goal weight and just don't see that happening. I'm struggling with exercise and just not sure what to eat anymore. I need help and my will power back.

I think the suggestions given to the OP (original poster) on this thread are some things you might want to consider for yourself. Look at what your meal plans are like. Stick to those and cut out the Snacks. If you must have a snack, make them healthy. Start walking if exercise is difficult for you, start with whatever amount you can handle and continue to add to it each week.

Set goals mini and longer goals for yourself. There are weight loss challenges going on all the time. Go to the General Sleeve Discussion category. We are just finishing up the 4th of July challenge. I personally find this very helpful. It's totally voluntary, but most people post once a week their progress. Kind of a way to help us be accountable for our weight loss.

Hope this helps.

I am right there with you. I am so angry with myself! I was doing great and then life took over. I keep finding so many reasons no to get back on track. I really need to find some motivation.

Hi Lane: I just wanted to commend you for your honesty and give you encouragement as you go forward. I would concentrate on low calorie, high Protein food and a lot of Water. Try and decrease the carbs, hard as it is. You will do well. Just stick to it, and don't rush it. It takes time to get there:)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
