Angela-

It's funny you should mention this because over the past 2 weeks, I noticed the VERY SAME THING!! I can no longer feel my port at all, where I always could before. I also have a little "bump" which I'm not sure what it is, but it is definitely not the port. I just figured that I have started losing some of the fatty tissue 'underneath' where the port is and it is just more sunken down now. I actually wasn't worried about it at all, but have been thrilled not to feel it anymore:p Also, I don't seem to notice it getting "agitated" during sex, or when I bend over something or turn funny....which I am also thrilled about;)

Thanks, I am feeling pretty relieved. How long per the office calling with a date? I understand with Dr H its usually about 4-6 wks AFTER Dr. S approves you.

Greetings from Tampa Bay!

My port never bothered me, so not feeling it did cause some alarm. Not worried about it though, the "smaller inside too" philosophy makes sense. I hadn't thought of that. As long as Dr. H can feel it if/when I get another fill, I'll be good.

I'll also report that even though I spent 3 more hours in the sky yesterday than I originally planned, I had no problems at all eating lastnight or lunch today. That's a first! Usually even just the quick 50 min trip from KC to IL is enough to close me up.

OFF TOPIC

Hey all. Sorry I haven't been posting much. Seems we all have been a bit absent lately. Things have been very hectic for me lately at home and office. The office remodel is finally done but we are still left with trying to put everything back in their new homes.

As most of you know I've also been lazily searching for a new job. My husband finally kicked me in the butt and made me get a resume posted on careerbuilder.com as well as putting in that application to NFM. In one week I had 4 calls for interview. The last one I went to was actually one that didn't even know if I was still looking for a new job. He had heard of me through the grapevine from a business associate that had known I was contemplating a move last year but had no idea if I was still interested in leaving my company. The first time I got to speak to the gentleman we talked for over an hour on the phone. Then I met him off site for an interview this morning that last 3+ hours and another 2 hour talk later that afternoon at his business. He practically gave me the job on the spot at nearly $1/hr more than I make now. The job would be 80% accounting 20% customer service/sales. Right now I do the opposite 20% accounting 80% sales. So I'm just a bit nervous that he might not be getting someone as able to jump into the job and run with less training than I might need. But I'm still pretty confident I could pick it up. We left it that we would schedule a few hours over a day or two next week for me to be shown a little more of the job maybe even try to work a half day for him. Then we could both decide if it was as good a fit as it seemed in the interview. I've been at my current job for almost 9 years so changing is a bit scary for me.

Positives:

0.95/hr better pay

401K with first 3% matched at 100% (vs. NO 401K)

A year end bonus that takes work performance into acct (vs. bonus that is ALWAYS the same every year)

More flexible rules on taking time off

<10 min from home (vs. 25-40min depending on traffic)

Negatives:

Fairfax - Not the best neighborhood (vs. heart of Jo Co)

Older (circa 1960's) Style Office Decor

(vs. newly remodeled)

Fear of failure to learn new duties

all sick or personal days though allowed are unpaid.

Strange rule about how personal calls and e-mails are allowed but only if done from a phone/computer other than your own.

I really did get a good vibe from the guy and when I added up the monetary value of wages/benefits of each job (even taking into account the loss of paid sick days it still came out to a $1.43/hr better pay. But I'm still nervous. I'd be replacing a gal that he fired after 4 months because she wasn't working out. He says she was taken on at a much lower wage with the knowledge she was a novice. He said that to calm my fears but that only makes me feel more nervous about his expectations with taking me on at the higher wage he is willing to offer me.

BACK TO TOPIC

My last fill has made me very tight. I can only eat and drink very small amounts at a time. Though I still don't seem to have any new foods that I plain can't eat. And I haven't PB'd but I have been having terrible acid reflux when I drink Water. As a result I've lost another 4 pounds since my fill last Wednesday! That makes 2 weeks in the last month that I've lost more than 1 to 1-1/2 pounds. The only 2 times outside of the liquid phase that ever happened!

LAST NOTE

I also wanted to say I had a great time at the Blue Nile. Hope we can do it again soon. Someone else can pick the next restaurant though :) .

I was banded 5/2/06, so I've lost 67 lbs in 20 weeks so an avg of 3.3 lbs per week.

20 weeks - I can't believe I was so close to right on the timing.

3.3 POUNDS PER WEEK !!!! :hail:

I may be farther along time wise than you but you are still one of my hero's and give me inspiration to keep on with the struggle when it gets tough.

At 20 weeks I had only lost 30 pounds or 1.5 pounds per week. Right now my average for the last 53 weeks is 1.47 pounds.

Aww thanks :)

Yeah the thing that helps me is knowing that we ALL struggle - even people who have lost 150 lbs. struggle. When I was feeling really down on myself for not eating and exercising like I had been, and we started the accountability log, that helped me A LOT. Just to know that everyone struggles - its not always easy.

I just went out and had the BEST Breakfast - crabby benedicts. See info on accountability log.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
