2 months out and hardly eating

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am 9 weeks out and so far I lost 30 pounds and very happy about that. My only problem is that I do not eat more 3 or 4 bites of anything. I still can't eat meat or chicken (not even a hamburger). The only thing that is easier for me to eat is fish and I can't even eat more 3 ounces of that. Even Soup, I can only eat a small cup. I live on Protein Shakes (I hate them). I feel the restriction in my throat/esophogus, not in my stomach. Also, after the second or third bite, I produce some very uncomfortable mucus that makes me stop eating right away. I also have severe heartburn for which I take daily medication in addition to tums. I also have Constipation (I have a BM every 5-6 days) and I take medication for that too.

The doctor suggested a simple 5 minute laproscopic procedure in which they insert a tube or a balloon and take it out. This should help with the eating. I want to know if anyone of you has dealt with a similar problem or have had the procedure done. Thank you...

I know of a family member who needs their esophagus stretched every so often and they have not had WLS surgery. Where they put a tube with a ballon down and inflate then deflate the balloon. They are good for awhile but she has had to have it redone a couple of times over the years.

Not sure if this is the same problem.

Does he/she get the same sensation when they try to eat something? how often do they need to get the stretching procedure done? did they start having this problem after have a surgery? (not necessarily a weight loss surgery)

I had my sleeve done on 09/24, I will try your Protein Shake, I hope I like it better than powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. The only way I can drink Unjury is by mixing it in a Startbuck's Iced Mocha coffee, it works...

No it was not after a surgery. She is older in her 60's and if I remember correctly it is just due to poor muscles in the esophagus (I think). Yours sounds different with the same proceedure. When she gets ithe proceedure done she is great for eating but with her age the proceedure only lasts for a year and the muscles start to narrow again.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
