Protein drinks gagging me

Recommended Posts

I am 2 weeks out and I cannot handle the Protein Drinks. I am drinking Premier shakes from costco. I tried the ISO PURE grape and Six Star Muscle from Wal Mart. Just the smell of any of one makes me gag. They don't make me sick or anything but just to get them down is horrible. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issues. I'm brainstorming and trying to get creative, as well as, continue to try different Proteins. Eventually, I'll find what works for me and you will too.

I use the Wheybolic AMP from GNC and I personally don't think it's too bad! Also look in the recipies area because Tiff posted a HUGE listing of Protein Drinks to make and OMG some of them sound SO GOOD!! DH and I are going to print them out on cards to take with us when we travel for Christmas! hehe

I like the nectar chocolate trufffle.

Go to the thread where it says places to order samples. Get a bunch of samples and find out which one you like

instead of buying a big jug of something you may not like.

I use the Carnation sugar free Instant Milk with 1/3 cup of Dry milk mix with the skim milk. This gives me 21 grams of Protein. I have just recently bought the Torina sugar free syrups and added Raspberry flavored, Caramel and for the holiday gingerbread-all of these are also sugar free to change up the flavor from plain chocolate and vanilla.

Unjury unflavored Protein powder...you can mix with pretty much anything. I got a free sample and I dig it cuz there is no vanilla or chocolate taste. I'm going through the same stuff. I tried the Isopure and grape was alright but the blue raspberry was the best. Just waiting for my unjury to come in the mail....

I don't have much issue getting them down. I just hate the aftertaste. So I make sure I pack a sugar free popsicle to have after :)

I tried the unflavored kind. And, I think it does add some taste to stuff. And, the smell is AWFUL!

I have tried about 4 different kinds...I like nectar Twisted cherry OK. but I couldn't drink it three times a day. Went and talked to GNC employee. They gave me several to try and I personally like the one I bought. It is called Gold Standard 100% whey. I bought the extreme milk chocolate but they had several flavors like, vanilla, Cookies and cream, strawberry, and banana cream. I was also told that if you dont like what you buy from GNC you get to return it. That was worth trying for me because I've spent like 75 dollars trying others that I can not drink now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
