Sooo... How are you today?

Hey everyone! Well here we all are. Together in one specific place, for one specific reason. But... I know that's not ALL I'm about. I have a life!!!

So, today is Friday - TGGGGG!!! I have a basketball game to go to on Sunday. I'm a Sacramento Kings fan and have quarter season tickets to their games. They suck, but oh well. I'm a very loyal girl!

Yesterday I bought the Butterball Turkey Fryer. It was 112 bucks at Walmart. This is going to be the first I'm ever going to do the Thanksgiving Turkey in a fryer. I've never even tried it fried!! But, all I keep hearing is how tender and juicy the bird comes out. Well with a 3 oz stomach I was worried how I'd get any dry turkey down my gullet. I'm hoping I can get more than 3 bites down!

It's going to rain here today in Sacramento, CA. That sucks. I'm a California girl born and raised. I like it sunny and 70 degrees. I know we need the rain, blah blah blah - but I guess I'm selfish like that. ;o)

So what's everyone's plans for Thanksgiving? In my family it's always been at my house. Never any big to-do but my Mom lives with us so all the brothers and sisters and cousins like to make an appearance. That's life in my world during the Holidays! :)

God bless!

Thanksgiving is at my place this year as well. Everyone is pitching in with items, so I only have a few items to prepare (including the turkey). It's always a little distressing being the one responsible for the main dish, but I love the Reynolds Turkey Bags - hard to mess up with one of those.

Also, I am a HUGE Black Friday girl. I'm one of the crazies who gets up in the middle of the night to do the sales. I spend most of Thanksgiving afternoon (when everyone is in their Turkey Coma) planning my strategy and finding the best sales. I'm a nut, but I LOVE IT. I've even convinced my husband to go out with me the past few years. We shop a while, go have Breakfast and then shop some more. Actually, I usually shop that day until the early evening. We go pick up the kids, have dinner, and then go home and CRASH. Can you tell how excited I am?????

Hope everyone has a great day. I have 5:00 tickets for Harry Potter - so it should be a good night. And yes, I am having buttered popcorn!!! It's planned so I am not going to feel one bit guilty about it. (OK - maybe a little guilty, but I'm still gonna have it!)

Hey girlie!! Oh yeah, you know when I sent the invite out to the house I told everyone to bring a dish and BYOB... bigtime. LOL :)

OMG how could I forget Black Friday!!! I'm already knowing Target is on the list. $3 small appliances... I need a new electric can opener. I'm sure I can find many other needless things to spend my money on - and I'm not even talking about Christmas gifts. It's all for me... haha!! I'm bad, I know.

We usually do the early morning rush too, and then breakky then more shopping. Exactly the same!

Have fun at HP tonight! I never really got into the whole book/movie HP thing. I know lots do though, so it will be jam packed at the theatres this weekend. Enjoy your popcorn lady... a treat once in a while is not a big deal. If you're like me though, watch yourself afterward.

For me, for the next two weeks I gotta bust a move! I haven't weighed in almost a week and won't again until Wednesday. I feel like I've lost maybe a few pounds since I last checked, but I still think I'm behind the curve on the challenge! Gah!!

Hugs!!!

Im in a huge fight with my sister-in-law. She totally talked about my Mom and Brother on Facebook. What an idiot! Knowing I'm on her friends list and fiercly protective over my Mom. We had TDay at her house last year but I won't be going there this year. We are going to my Father-in-laws house (Hubby's side this time) and bringing some side dish. Hubby told his Dad that I had the surgery and I know his Dad told everyone else. They are all thin so I'll be under the microscope while I'm there. I'd rather just stay home really.

Today I'm going to visit a friend who had the DS. Our boys love to play together and we talk WLS the whole time :) We will probably also go out to eat and split a plate of totally yummy food. Here in just a bit I have a chiropractor apt from our car wreck. Both boys are STILL asleep so that should be fun. I'm dying to go to Lane Bryant and take back a bra I had bought and down size it. I also wouldnt' mind trying on a few pairs of pants to see where I am X)

I am so sorry. I can totally understand wanting to avoid that.

DJax, I'm so sorry to hear about that! That is so terrible. I am on Facebook, but sometimes people go WAY over board on it. My status for today was: "Facebook: Destroying countless marriages and relationships worldwide, daily!" It's so true though... gah.

I hope you still have a nice Turkey Day, and hopefully no one will grill you about the surgery. I made sure everyone I told I literally swore them to secrecy. I just don't want all the questions, etc. When someone asks how I'm losing (because everyone is noticing now) I just tell them it's Atkins. It's true, and explains why I really only eat the meat off my plates... lol ;o)

Have fun today with your friend! Sometimes I wish I had someone who also had WLS and a friend. It would be so nice to hang out with them. You're very lucky!! And may your pants be very small at LB's later! :)

hey all

thought I would get in on the convo a little bit....lol

I have posted but no one seems to want to talk to me...lol

having been doing lots of research and I do beleive I am at the point that I am gonna go through with the sleeve. I unfortunatly didn't sleep last night as I pondered my whole life - but I am grateful for a second chance at life and living longer and doing some things that I have always wanted to do but couldn't because of my weight.

Next week a consultant comes to my city and I am going to talk to her and start the process....to which I am excited. I think my greatest excitement is going to be able to buy clothes from a normal store.... gosh I don't know the last time I did that... maybe 12-13?

Anyways, thanks for all your posts. I read them daily, it has been an inspiration to read them.

Sorry no one talked to you. I try really hard to get on here each day & look for new posts, but sometimes they get "lost".

Glad to hear that you are researching the sleeve. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Harry Potter in 5 hours!!!!!

Hi Furry! Sorry it seems no one is talkin to ya! It's nothing personal I'm sure. Sometimes the chatter on here can go through so fast, older posts just get moved down really quickly.

Congrats on your decision! It certainly is one that I am VERY happy about that I did for myself. You WILL absolutely get to start shopping in normal clothing shops again! It has been possibly 20 years for me. I can shop at larger retailers now, like Penney's or Macy's but not little boutiques yet. I'm not quite into the 14 Misses yet. Almost though!!! :D

Mini... check in and let us know how you rate the movie! :o

Thanks for all the support gals. I'll have to just suck it up and see how it goes. It's one of maybe 3 times Hubby sees his Dad each year. To previous poster I had a few bites of pumpkin pie when I was on purees and lord was it heaven!

Things are good! I'm going to take the dog for a walk in the forest, then meet up with friends in the evening.

I had an amazing day/night yesterday ! ! ! I had my normal Breakfast with my girlfriends, then a meeting on base with my husband's squadron leadership, then Mexican for lunch with an old friend, then I had a jewelry show about an hour away and was so worried that it was going to be a FLOP ! ! ! But, it ended up being an amazing show at $1100.00 in sales, so for literally 5 hours of "work" including travel time I grossed $330.00 ! ! !

The mister had a big to do dinner ceremony with a special Lt. General, and we both got home late, but it was a fabulous day/night ! ! !

Today, we're just relaxing at home, the kiddo is at a friend's house, and it's just quiet and peaceful. I'll have another show tonight, and then home to hang out with the guys ! ! !

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
