Becca - I totally understand those second thoughts. I was so sure I would be the one who failed (after all, every other diet failed me) ... but I am the same weight as 17 (a looooooooooooong time ago) wearing 6 and 8's. While it has been work, it's been easier to do than any other diet I've tried. I am very confident that maintenance will be fairly straightforward. I am so grateful to have had this surgery and starting my life again. My husband is thrilled with my new body (not that he complained about my old one) ... I feel like a 17 year old again. (Well, with a few more wrinkles and not quite the energy level.)

Congratulations mimi-me!!!!!! I feel so happy for you, and it gives me faith again, as yesterday I didn't have such a good day, and thinking what if this is all I lose?(I'm a bit more than half way to goal 2 months out) These real life success stories give me strength to carry on. Enjoy your new self!!!! ;)

Wow. Just, wow! I've watched your entire journey, quietly from the sidelines. You've done a tremendous job. Thanks for being such an inspiration.

Definitely keep going if you want! You can do it, all it will take is time.

Huge, HUGE congrats!

Congratos Mini!! You are one of my many heroes on this board and you are one that I always knew would hit goal!! One of your later posts was grumbling about the last few pounds - I am SO there!! But, like you, I know I'll get there - our bodies just need to decide when at the very end there and it's ALL GOOD!!! I am so excited for all of us! What a long, strange trip it's been, eh?? Hugs to you!!

Hooray, Mini!! Now - where are the pictures?!! We need pic-chaws!!!! =)

I have 2 on my "gallery". I think everyone can see them.

To everyone else ... Thank you! Your encouragement helped me to keep my eyes forward and get where I am today.

On another note - we had a health screening today at work. Something I always hated going to in the past. My numbers were awesome. The nurse walking me through the results said I was the healthiest person she's seen in the past 2 days. Me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • Chol - 141
  • HDL - 66
  • TC/HDL ratio - 2.1
  • LDL - 61
  • Trig - 72
  • Blood Glucose - 70
  • BP - 117/77

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Wow!!! hurray and a million congratulations -- you are an inspiration to all of us still on the journey!! :)

The good news is that I am still on the journey right along with you.

No matter what month or year I am in, I will always be a WLS Patient.

This is my lifelong journey

... But the difference is this time I WILL DO IT!!!! I will be thin and healthy and not gain the weight back. What a concept. And, so "freeing" after being a slave to the scale and my tight pants for so many years.

What a lovely post to read.... congratulations!!! I'm SO pleased for you...can't wait until I am posting the same one.

I think if you feel you can shift a bit more and would be happy a little slimmer then go for it.. I have an idea of how I want to look (bodywise) when I reach my goal.... the numerical one is another one.... I may or may not still have the lumps and bumps at that weight, its been so long since I've been 140 that I don't know how I'll look.

Well done hun..... fantastic job!

Mini, can you share how much weight you lost per month? 1st month, 2nd month, and so on?

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
