Headaches and hunger before surgery

As far back as I can remember, if I didn't eat, or went too far between meals, I'd develop headaches. Still, if I don't eat within 5 hours of each meal, I feel that familiar feeling of "the headache" coming on. The solution has always been EAT. This is a leading cause of going off a diet for me. I have never been one to snack throughout the day, I've always eaten 3 meals a day with a snack in afternoon and a bedtime snack. My concern is, when I have the surgery (in Jan!!) that these headaches will stay. I'm afraid I won't be eating enough and my body will start the headache thing. Anybody have the same issue pre-surgery and did it go away after? Are we able to take Motrin after surgery as a pain-killer on regular basis?
