Help! 2 Weeks out and not doing well.

Recommended Posts

My labs still aren't back or should I say they are not back to me yet. My kidneys are feeling better but I have to psych myself up to take the big pills. I've resulted to cutting them in half. Works better but they are far from mush.... My newest issue is a heighten sense of smell. I keep candles lit as much as possible, but there are times when the smells lead to massive nausea and I end up in bed with a cold rag, a bucket near by and my phenergan from the Dr. Other than this my world is getting better with real food.

Anyways how is everyone else doing?

Glad you're doing better. I'm 13 mos. post-op and lost all the weight. I was never nauseous and had no complications. I remember mood-swings as that's a common thing. I was told not to worry about getting in all the Protein in the very beginning, so I didn't. The first 30 days are the roughest. I also remember being told not to begin the next phase of eating until it was time to do it. But since your doctor told you OK, I guess it's OK. Just be careful with that as you have a brand new small tummy and it needs time for the staple line to heal. That's the biggest deal in the beginning. Hope you continue to improve every day. Yes, the heightened sense of smell is part of the process, too, sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes not. Your taste will change too and foods you used to like will taste like crap now, especially if they are unhealthy foods. We all have our favorites from our "foodie" days, mostly fast food and the like. Now that stuff tastes like artificial crap to me. It's funny how this surgery changes you forever but in a good way.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
