Head off Wednesday! Please help me wish for no fog!!!

Recommended Posts

So I've got two more sleeps til I head to Southampton for my op!!! I can't believe how quick it has come.

Still two more days of work (it's a nightmare, I am having a terrible time concentrating and keep making mistakes) I have to have my bag packed ready in the car, and head straight to the airport after work.

When I arrive, I'm staying in a B&B Wednesday night, and have to be at Spire Hospital at 6.30am on Thursday.

I am SO nervous that there might be fog and I won't be able to get off the island. I don't know what is going to happen if I can't get away. I guess I will have to hope there will be an early flight on Thursday morning and I can go straight to the hospital, but I definitely won't get there until at least 9am which probably means I'll be last on the surgeon's list. That would suck!

So please please wish me luck that there is no fog, and everything goes to plan. I reckon if we all think hard enough, we can clear the clouds

And for those of you who are on your pre-op, or just looking into your options and due for your first consultation ... don't fret, time flies! I can't believe how quickly it has come around, it seems like only yesterday I first started researching.

Big hugs to everyone. Here we go!!!!

Good luck to you hoping there won't be any fog. I had my sleeve done in a Spire Hospital up here in the Northeast, it was great!

You guys are awesome. Thank you SO much for the kind words.

I have decided to take my laptop to the hospital with me in case I need support. This forum has been such a crutch for me these past few months. Don't know what I'd do without you! *sniff* LOL

Chilo - it's good to hear someone else here was done at a Spire Hospital. I'm glad you had a good experience. Mine has been A1 so far. Let's hope it continues that way! :thumbup1:

I made it! The flight went fine, and I'm now sat in my B&B in Southampton. Going to the hospital first thing in the morning.

Thanks everyone for keeping the fog at bay! :)

Thanks guys. I slept very well actually! Dropped off about 9.30pm and only woke up a couple of times to check the clock, then fell straight back to sleep.

Now typing from my hospital bed, still pre op, but I've been told I am due in second. So approx 10.30am if all goes to plan.

My room is nice, the staff are very friendly and reassuring without being condescending. So far I am very impressed with Spire!

I've had my blood pressure done, blood sugar tested and been given some pain killers and anti-inflammatory and anti-sickness tablets in anticipation.

The anaesthetist is due to come in soon. My parents have been here with me so far and are about to head back to the B&B for some Breakfast.

Not long now!!! See you on the other side!!!! :D :D :D

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
