The only people i have told about me going to mexico to have surgery is my mother and husband. i had told a friend a few months back i was thinking about it and she gave me shit so i dont talk about it and i dont want to tell people im going to have VGS. I dont want people trying to talk me out of it or trying to scare me about going down. Yesterday my mom tells me that my Dad doesnt want me to go cuz someones gonna take me and bash my head in and the Dr is gonna butcher me. REALLY??? This is why i didnt want anyone to know!

However I have told my husband and he is being quite supportive! I am so scared of telling them or them finding out... Because I know I will have negitve backlash... Ugh its hard trying to do better for urself but not being able to tell some of the people you love !

All that huh? LOL I know it is not funny, it is just hillarious how peoples perception of a place can be so dramatic. I know there are dangers in Mexico but I think certain places are the hot spots. I also know I felt pretty secure with the trip straight to the place I was having surgery and the hotel was located in the other wing so I really didn't HAVE to leave the facility. I did take a walk to Starbucks with my mom and she went daily to get her coffee there. Then we got loaded in the van and went straight to the border when we went home. I felt more scared in a sketchy neighborhood I ventured into at Chula Vista California the day before surgery hehe.

They are parents so of course they worry. I am like my mom, if I am worried about me kids doing something then I make sure I am going to be there with them.

Hi folks,

I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr. Aceves on October 18th. I'll be going alone (traveling from Northern California). I'd love to hear from anyone going down there the same time! Would be nice to chat and support each other.

Annette

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
