3 and 1/2 months out..70 lbs down

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to take a moment and say thank you to all who participate on this board. It has helped me more than anything else whenever I needed information or just plain support.

I had my surgery on May 4, 2010 and have lost 70 pounds (62 post op). I never imagined this could happen for me. I remember right before I had my surgery I had just resigned myself to a life of obesity after 20 years of failed diets. Then I heard about VSG and came to this board. The rest as they say is history. Well, not quite, yet. I still have 40 pounds to go, but I KNOW I can do it. I have found it to be so easy as long as I follow the cardinal rule: Protein first, veggies second and if there is room for anything else.....haha, like there is ever room for anything else.

Well thanks for listening, and thanks for being there! Feel free to look at my before and three months after photos. Wow, now I never thought I would allow anyone to see pictures LOL

THank you so much for posting, it is posts like these that really help me not get discouraged. I am 10 days post op and am struggling with the full liquid portion. Not because I am hungry but because I fear I am never going to have a "normal" meal again. I see these posts and I realize it gets better! I gotta remember that and take it a day at a time.

You look wonderful.

A true heartfelt thank you! You are all my inspirations every day. I start every morning here at this site, reading about everyone's struggles and triumphs. It puts me in the right frame of mind that I can feel good about whatever comes up. Whether it is food choices, missing my "friend" and choosing a new way to cope and remembering how far I have come from those hard weeks in the beginning. Thank you all for being there with me on this journey!

Thanks Kim, you are going to do great, your enthusiasm is so contagious. I remember the feeling I had when I got my date, it was so wonderful. I was jumping up and down squeeling on the inside and the outside! I think from the moment we make the decision to have the surgery there is no going back. You will only go forward and pretty soon we will all be looking at your after pictures...... You have found such a wonderful community of support here. Everyone here is so amazingly positive and helpful. Best wishes and keep me up to date!

Awsome job Jamey. It always amazes me that so many people look like a totally different person after some weight loss. You are looking great, and more importantly you look happy. Good work.

I also agree about these boards. Pre-op they helped me out so much with information and alleviating fears, and although I am only 8 days post op, they are still helping me out with information, and encouragement when I read them. The people here are the best.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
