I have a new job!

Recommended Posts

Well, as of this morning I am no longer teaching Kindergarten!

This former morbidly obese girl is my school's new PHYSICAL EDUCATION teacher!!! How awesome is that?! I can now exercise all day and not feel guilty if I can't make it to the gym after work!!!

Teaching PE is something I never thought I would do. A year and a half ago I would have dreaded it. This is a VSG success for sure!

That is great news! Just think... you might be able to help some obese children to learn how to enjoy exercise and turn it around while they are young!

WOW, what an awesome NSV as well as a fantastic lifestyle change. This will also help you in your goals of staying healthy, plus you get to pass on your knowledge to kids who really need it. I think it's wonderful!!

Amanda that is fantastic. And you will bring such kindness and insight to that job too. (Most of the PE teachers I remember from school were sadists!! Well to the fat kid with glasses and asthma they were anyway.)

Awesome news! I agree with the other posters - you will definitely have a different insight to P.E. (I too was the fat kid that was picked last & had no coordination!)

That is soooo great. I always thought I should be a postal worker so I got my walking in...although now they seem to drive more than walk. I mean, pay me to exercise and maybe I'll do it finally.

Amanda -

That is the coolest news ever! What you've gone through will help you every day as a PE teacher. Those are some lucky kids:) Have fun!!!

Thanks all! I'm really excited. I start Monday and I found out today that I am able to order $1200 of new equipment. My school has just started participating in the SPARK pe program and it is AWESOME! It is kind of based on small groups, so everyone is always participating and never waiting or sitting around because they didn't get picked. Everyone always has a piece of equipment and it is fun, fun, fun! I hope it will turn around my school's previously BORING (no offense to the little old lady who just retired) PE classes and maybe I will get to come back again next year!!!

I will let y'all know how it goes!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
