I apologize for just now getting this news to you however, nothing since Friday been easy.

What we hadn't realized is that internet access must be granted from the admininstration office and since we missed it on Friday we had to wait until today to get access.

We checked into the hospital at 8:30 a.m. and waited until much later for her to be taken back for her procedure.

That evening while she was in recovery from her hernia and sleeve surgery, my impression was that she was fine and that nothing was out of the ordinary. This was true for about 3 hours.

I was with her in her room when someone came to draw blood couldn't seem to get a vein to produce enough blood. Two nurses tried a for about half an hour. They asked me to leave the room because they were also unable to establish a blood pressure reading, they decided to put a "central" line in her neck so they could draw blood, monitor her pressure and for i.v.. use. When I walked out I noticed a red light outside the door. Assuming this wasn't too much out of the ordinary, I went to grab a soda. When I came back the light was off, when I got close the light came back on, but this time it was blue. People scrambled to her room, I asked what was happening and told by a nurse that she didn't know yet.

Without an explanation, her anistesiologist walked past and told me to wait outside. When they let me back in, I was told that she had a very low heoglobin count, has passed out and that they had going to give her blood throughout the night, which ended up being 4 pints. Another pint would come 2 days later.

At this point the origin of the blood leak is still a mystery, but it has seemed to stop. Today she is feeling about 70% she says. She is tolerating liquids well and walking a few times a day.

She said she will give you a personal update tomorrow, hopefully from the house.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It's 4:19 p.m. and we have been home about an hour. A long day not to mention a very long week. I wanted to pop on to say hello and to let you know I am doing MUCH better. Some sleep in my own bed is sounding really good, so I am headed that way. I'll be on sometime in the next day or too when I have caught up on some rest. Again, thanks to you all and best of luck to those of you getting ready to take the next step. Don't be discouraged by the fluke that hit me. The norm is much different. So be safe and I look forward to chatting with you all soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
