YAY chris! Good for you! What a great feeling to start feeling comfy in your skin.. it will just get better and better for you. Congrats on the grades!!

I am heading back to school myself. I was accepted to the local community college. I am going to major in Early Childhood Education and specialize in remedial reading. That is what I want to do. I have found that since I had the surgery, bought my house on my own etc, I have the confidence to really go for my dreams. Becoming a teacher in my 30s isn't what most do but I am determined and have a VERY supportive fiance..

I also plan (once we are married in may) to start our family. Granted I won't be at goal, but I will be much more healthier than I was a year ago! I just hope I can juggle being a student, working full time and probably being pregnant.. LOL Alot of women do it and so can I!

I am pretty much back to myself.. no more coughing really. I am heading back to the gym probably this weekend. Sunday I am thinking. Tomorrow I head to the surgeon's.. going to see if he is pleased with the loss. ( I am sure he will be!) and then see if I get anymore fills.. not sure if I need one at this point.

I do have to say, I was bad tonight. I had some ice cream. Now, I am typically not a sweets person but "Aunt Flo" is here (sorry chris lol) and I was CRAVING it. So I had a small dish and now I am satisfied and probably won't have it for a long time. I had to just get it over with. We normally don't even keep it in the house. I am sure my fiance will polish off the rest this weekend! Thank Goodness!

Hugz to all!

Okay.. update on me.. I show a weight loss of 18 lbs since Feb 23rd.. I have a brand new digital scale and weigh myself nekkid.. the doc's office shows 15 lbs. Either way.. very good.. but you know I am going by the nekkid weight.. LOL

Anyway, no fill needed since I lost so much but I do have some issues.. first off is I am very anemic.. probably why I am so run down lately and it took sooo long to get over my bronchitis. Also deficient in Vitamin D and Vitamin B12.. the B12 amazes my doc because that is usually happens to bypass patients. But he said I may have been deficient before surgery or am just the type of person that cannot absorb it as well as others. sooooo prescription Vitamins for me. If the B12 doesn't come up, I have to have shots.. YEOUCH..

NO wonder I am so tired!!!! I work out and was waiting for the "energy high" that one gets from regularly exercising and I just kept getting more tired. I am also supposed to eat more red meat.. I typically eat red meat once or twice a week.. My fiance will be happy with that! He is a meat eater. *grin*

Anyway, I am off to work.. hope everyone has a great day!

Donna Marie, I wonder how you are suspose to bring up your Iron. I too am low on Iron, but am afraid to get my iron pill stuck AGAIN. Ew. That was gross. I will try to find out if there is a liquid iron, or Multivitamin that has a good iron count.

Anyway, AWESOME weight loss. I am totally jealous.

I am stuck at 218. I am taking the kids to Disneyland in the middle of April, so I will book a fill when I get back. Didn't want to be too tight for the flight or Disneyland for that matter, not that I plan to pig out, but would like to be able to have my tiny meals. I will take some Atkin's Bars for lunches, but will be eating out dinner, which I don't like doing. I guess I can order Soup or an appetizer.

Anyway, just keeping up my journal.

Well, the nurse gave me Iron pills but said I could break them up. I shouldn't have too much trouble. I start them tomorrow. I already take 2 pills a day for high blood pressure and PCOS.. so I will just make the Iron pills the same size as those.

I can't wait to be feeling better. Who knew all this exhaustion was from being anemic??

Night all!

DonnaMarie - glad you're figuring out why you've been low on energy and slow to recover...weigh to go on the WL!!!

I have been at the same weight for a month now. I got a fill last Thursday. Today, I had a major incident - my LQ got stuck at school on my lunch break! I had to stay in the bathroom and PB until it subsided...not something I want to do again. I think that when I am having lunch with the teachers, and talking and not paying attention to what I'm doing, I don't chew well enough and just swallow and then BAM! It's too late. So I'm going to stick to softer foods for lunch instead of chicken and vegetables and save those for dinner when I'm at home and can pace myself. This is the second time it has happened in two weeks. So I have to change something!

Anyway - I wanted to be down 100 by yesterday (my 40th bday) but I was down 93 on Friday...so I got pretty darn close!

My knees are extremely bad right now - I see the knee surgeon April 3rd for a consultation. However, I just found out they are doing minimally invasive knee replacement surgery in the Twin Cities that would be a quicker recovery time and might enable me to have both done at once. So I'm going to make some calls. Cross your fingers and say prayers that this way would work out better for me :)

Talk to you all soon!

Stephanie.

Sorry about the PB! I teach and have decided ever since my last fill in Dec. that I will only eat soft foods at lunch, there is just not enough time plus it is WAY too fun to talk. So I drink or eat Soup and then eat a cottage double. I have been doing this since January when we came back from winter break and have not PBed at lunch since. Before that, some for a while it was twice a week. I'm a slow learner. Congrats on the weight loss and keep it UP!

I'm shooting for 53 lbs gone by April fool's day. 1 lb to go!

Reached my goal today. Woo hoo.

How did I do it?

EXERCISE

I walk at least 1 hour everyday. Faster now then I did at first. At first it was 1/2 mile in 35 minutes. Now 4 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes.

Please everyone who doesn't exercise, walk out your house tonight and walk 15 minutes away from your house and walk back. Do NOT worry what the neighbors will think or how slow you are going. You will add to your progress and have the last laugh when you neighbors start saying I can tell you have lost weight.

I remember thinking that everyone one is thinking , she NEEDS to walk (haha) but I would tell myself yeah and thats why I AM walking.

Good luck all you july 06 bandsters

Hey everyone!

I am doing pretty good. Having a HARD time with the Iron pills. They are so hard to take. I break them up in like 4 pieces. Also have to take more Fiber cuz Iron can stop things from movin if you know what I mean!

Today I had the feeling of the munchies but I got past it. I have a hard time eating in the morning.. very tight.. so sometimes I skip and that is bad cuz I get hungrier later in the day. So, I am going to get back to at least drinking a Carnation IB in the morning. I should be able to tolerate that.

Can I just tell you guys.. and sorry if TMI.. but lately, romantically, things have been GREAT with my fiance and I. I don't know but losing the weight and inches has increased things! *evil grin* Sorry if TMI again but just thought if anyone would understand, you guys would!.. My honey wont leave me alone!!! :)

Well, I am off now.. gonna read some and then head to bed. (and will be sleeping.. LOL)

Love to all!

So exciting, it must be such a relief and a literal weight off your back. It must also be expensive. ha! But that is the fun part and you so earned it.

Congratulations. How about an at goal picture with your new clothes on?

So now what eddie? Is your fill where you want it to be?

Just wanted to add my congrats to Edie for reaching goal! Sounds like you are quite pleased, too!! It's fun buying new clothes. Although I'm not at goal, I had to get an entire summer wardrobe as my old clothes didn't fit. I went to CATO and I absolutely love that store. It has bigger sizes for my bigger bottom half and smaller for my top half. Next summer, I will be at goal, so I won't have that issue.

I'm hoping to start a more consistent exercise program. Am thinking of joining Curves, again, if they have a special. I also am thinking I could just do some good ole walking and riding my exercise bike. It's just that my arms are quite flabby and maybe doing some machines would be good for them

Take care!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
