I was reading some information on stomaphyX procedure which is done through endoscopy....isn't that basically the same as VSG, though it is done to patients who have had RNY previously and stretched out the stomach?

StomaphyX - Bariatric Revision for Gastric Bypass Surgery

Would sure as heck be nice to have it done without incisions.

It has a high failure rate. If you check out the revision board on OH, you can find tons of information on Stomaphyx.

They go in and reduce the existing pouch and stoma size after patients stretch it out, but it's no where near close to a VSG procedure.

LOL, I've had 2 friends in real life have it done, and it failed miserable for both of them. One then had a band placed around her severely overstretched pouch, and the other is now saving to have an ERNY done to get malabsorption of calories for another couple of years.

This is one of the biggest reasons why RNY was not an option for me.

Isn't the problem that these pouches are made from the stretch part of the stomach, whereas the sleeve is made from the more non-stretch party of the stomach? It makes sense.

My friend with a bypass as of 2.5 weeks ago can already easily eat more than me. She also doesn't seem to have a problem getting the food to go down; whereas I do if I am eating dry type foods especially if I haven't drank anything in a while.

I don't really struggle a lot with that, because I've accepted and gotten use to it. When I eat a meal that goes directly to my sleeve, I'm extremely thankful. It was 2 mos before I ever felt 'full' b/c I think my sleeve was slowly filling probably lots of swelling in there and it took a while to get the food down. Sometimes I feel like my esophogas was also tightened in my surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
