Just got approved by insurance and now doc says.....

Recommended Posts

What a roller coaster ride. I have went to all the classes, done all the required medical test and submitted all the paperwork to the insurance company. The insurance company said they will cover the cost 100% and are sending the doctor the proper documents for him to get paid..................I was under the impression 3 months ago that after the insurance approved me, it would be two weeks till surgery. Now the office lady that handles surgery scheduling says it will be 6 or 7 weeks.

What a ride.

How frustrating ! ! ! I hope the scheduler gets your date moved up a bit more. If not, hang in there, and just prepare as much as you can mentally and physically for your upcoming date.

I am so sorry and can imagine your frustration. But how awesome you have 100% coverage! Hang in there.

I feel your frustration. I went to my doctor almost 3 weeks ago and received my date for June 23rd which is a long wait. I went through all the doctor appointments just to be held up by my PCP. She sent in a note to my surgeon as if it were a doctors note to go back to work. My PCP has been holding me up for the past 3 weeks from getting approved. I cant believe how inconsiderate some people in the health profession can be. Wish me luck I have Oxford.:001_tt2:

Dealing with insurance is maddening. Call them and see if you can be on a cancellation list. You might get it moved up that way. Best of luck.

I know that this won't help you with the long wait and the anticipation, but I'd rather be having surgery from a surgeon who is booked for weeks ahead than one who doesn't have many clients and can schedule me right away. I'd feel comforted by the fact that he is in demand for his services!!!

Congrats on the date, though and keep us posted.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
