Ok, talked to the doc, he said he would do a 32, we chatted about strictures, and I decided on a 34.

He said it is a big deal of one-up-manship among bariatric docs since it is a fairly competitive business, and everyone wants to brag about how small they do their bougies..lol

Anyway, good news is surgery is on the 2nd. One week of clears before surgery.

Thanks to everyone who responded with info and good wishes!

Lisa

My 'old' doc has agreed to discuss sleeve size with me(he wants to do a 48 and I want something in the mid 30's), I had told them I was changing docs yesterday, and his nurse called me today and said he would like for me to come talk to him about it.

Thing is, they already have my insurance approval and everything in place and I had a surgery date with them for the 27th. My new doc search isnt going well, and it looks like I may have to go out of state.

Would it be possible to do a little poll here about what everyone has for

a sleeve size so I have some ammunition to take with me?

If you could give me just your sleeve size that would be awesome and I would be gratefull.

Thanks,

Lisa

My doctor used a 32 F . . hope this helps!

YAY YAY Lisa, I'm glad your surgeon was able to discuss this openly with you, and that you are able to get what you want.

Best wishes and keep us posted.

I am confused. My doctor didn't give an option he said after the swelling went down the stomach would hold between 4-6 ounces.. So what does that equal.. I did research but never heard of the sized until now.. Can someone share with me?:thumbup1:

Not sure what size he used, but I am able to eat about 1/2 cup full liquids and I'm full. Anyone know what size Dr. nick in Dallas uses?

I am having surgery in 9 days and spoke with my surgeon about this yesterday and he uses 34fr on women and 36 on men. He says anytime he has used a 32 he has regretted it due to complications.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
