i agree with tiffany. ask your dr. because all dr.'s make you stop smoking prior to surgery and insist that you do not smoke agian!

my dr. made me promise that i would never smoke again and would not do RYN surgery on me because i had been a smoker!! he was that strict! he said that if i did ever smoke again, he would stop being my dr.!!

to each their own, but i would ask!

just my opinion!

I have a prescription for medical marijuana for nerve pain and spasms.Sometimes it is the only thing that helps, thught I do not use it often. My pain management doctor knows about it. I expect to do without for quite some time after my surgery- it will be worth it! Ultimately losing the weight is something I hope will lessen my need for pain meds of any kind. Certainly of fentanyl, dilaudid, and pot, all of which I use, the pot is the most gentle!

Meg,

thank you for posting this. I think people forgot that medicinal marijuana is in use. I too have a nerve disorder but MM is not approved in my state. Sometimes I wish it were, because the drugs they have me on are pretty strong and leave me loopy. I am hoping the weight loss with help me as well. Good luck :)

Kinky,

Why couldn't he just munch on low carb Snacks??? (Think: beef Jerky, SF pops, turkey roll ups) The munchies shouldn't scare you if you are prepared with high Protein, low carb options.

Just a thought.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
